About The Crooked Man

"There was a crooked man,
and he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat,
which caught a crooked mouse,
and they all lived together
in a little crooked house. "

This is the first title in the series known as The Strange Man, developed by Uri Games.
Experience the myriad horrors awaiting David as he moves into his new house.
In The Crooked Man, you play as David Hoover, who has recently moved to a new apartment during a rather rough time in his life. In the midst of him struggling to deal with his current situation, David starts to experience some odd occurrences in his apartment, and decides its best to ask a little about the former tenant.
However, he learns little.
Strangely compelled to learn more about this man, David sets off in search of him, hoping to find answers to his questions.
In commemoration of the game's Steam release, achievements, and multi-language localization have been added.

Went on a nostalgia trip and binged a bunch of RPGmaker horror games that I watched youtubers play back in the Cretaceous period years ago. Ignoring the old engine limitations (mostly referring to the clunky combat), this game, along with Ib, are the best of them. Honorable mention goes to Mad Father. Love the story and writing. I forgot most of the plot, so the twist still hit when I got to it. Old gem

One of my favourite games ever. Back in 2013 I was heavy into RPGMaker games and found them extremely charming. My entry point was Ib, Mad Father and the Witch's House, much like several people but playing The Crooked Man still brings out raw emotion 13 years after it was released. The Crooked Man, in my opinion is one of Uri's strongest works. There is this simplicity and transparency in the storytelling which I absolutely love. I think it is a prime example of not needing complex mechanics or words for storytelling. David Hoover to me is a very well written protagonist, and without spoiling anything I will say that the main plot and his self are interwoven incredibly well. He is soft-hearted, kind and resonates with me (probably why my review is a little biased, haha). Gameplay wise it is your standard RPGMaker game from the early 2010s, with finding items, cutscenes, encounters, the like. I like its familiarity, and Uri's art style, and the moody colour palette it uses. It took me a bit because I enjoy walking around maps and was attempting to get all the achievements, but I think this game can be reasonably finished in 3-4 hours. Regardless, I will definitely be replaying…

amazing suspensive plots and atmosphere, I saw a review saying it resembles vibes of Silent Hill and I couldn't agree more
