✦ AI summary

Dimensional Animals is a charming, short metroidvania platformer where switching between animals with different abilities creates satisfying movement mechanics and exploration, with particularly praised music and level design. Players appreciate the accessible secrets and reasonable difficulty for the main path, though some find the control responsiveness becomes janky during complex power combinations, and the game's brevity may leave some wanting more content. The frog character in particular receives criticism for awkward controls that undermine the otherwise seamless animal-switching syste

Good news for any% speedrunners: I (accidentally) finished the game without using the frog and raccoon, total gameplay in less than an hour. Overall, the gameplay is fun with cute animal characters. Start with a dog that can dash through solid walls, later on a wall-climbing cat and a double-jumping bird will join to explore new areas. The game doesn’t offer a difficulty selection, most enemies and environments are easy to handle, but some boss fights require patience. One of the game’s strengths is the automatic animal switching feels seamless, like a single character transforming to perform different tricks. However, a downside is that hidden paths aren’t always clear, which can lead to a game over due to getting stuck in the wall. During my playthrough, I double-jumped onto a floating board that led to a new room with locked doors on each side in the beach area. Since I had all three keys, I unlocked the left door, which teleported me to a new area resembling a wash basin. After a few dashes, I found myself on a path with my animal friends standing side by side and a red ball floating in the air. Instinctively, I picked it up, and then I was thanked for playing the game as the…

DA is a great platformer with some interesting ideas, but don’t be fooled by the welcoming visuals. It can be very challenging if you’re trying to get all the achievements. The main paths are kept easy but the point is to find all the collectibles/secrets, which is going to require more skill. You can even miss a playable character with its own unique move. There are 3 ‘worlds’ connected in a metroidvania kind of way. The main gimmick is switching between different animals seamlessly to perform a chain of moves in order to reach a spot. This feels fantastic when you master the controls, and it’s so cool to watch. I love the music in this game, one of them is still on my mind. The sound effects are also very good and the graphics are just lovely. The achievements are fine for what this game is trying to do. There is even new game plus where it’s slightly more challenging, the maps are not fully visible before exploring them and all the playable characters are unlocked right away. It was lots of fun going through the game that way. The flaws are mainly 2. I’ve probably encountered a bug where the map shows I have all the blue gems while I was missing one. The developer tried his bes…

Cute game, but the controls eventually become a nightmare to deal with, particularly after unlocking the frog.

This was a very fun, short, cute action-adventure platformer. The game starts off feeling fairly easy and casual, but the challenge ramps up to a respectable level! The platforming is very satisfactory once you learn all of the different moves (I fumbled them a bunch, but I got there :D). The optional challenge sections definitely pushed me to give it my all. I liked how the secrets are all reasonably accessible, so long as you are vigilant. I enjoyed myself and would recommend playing it. :)

DIMENSIONAL ANIMALS IS AN AMAZING SHORT METROIDVANIA <3 Has a person who usually is busy with so many tasks I have a short time to spend on games that took a lot of time to beat, somedays I just want to chill after work and play a short but really good experience and this game DEFINITLY give you that feeling. The level design feels so good , every new power up adds some cool mechanics for the tricks to keep progressing through the leves, the toad one is one of my favorites cuse kinda reminds me of the mario odissei gameplay ^^ The sound track is so chill but in the forest level IT JUST EXPAND AND GIVE YOU SOME COOL CELESTE VIBES since you're doing some crazy platform jumps. Overall Dimensional Animals is a game totaly worth it, and I think I spent well my money < 3

This is almost a yes. It's thoughtfully designed and fun, but it has a few problems: - Controls get janky when combining powers, especially when using the floating things that renew use of all powers in the middle of a jump -- which is part of essentially all the harder platforming challenges. They thus become a frustrating exercise in "repeat until every button press registers and the timing lines up in a particular way you can't understand or predict." - Pretty short - No borderless fullscreen AND no resizeable window (or even a reasonable default size) Upgrades are limited to the 4 animal "swaps" (really movement upgrades that happen automatically), HP gems, and cosmetic color gems. Not much variety, but the game is very short anyway. The blinking power, which you start out with, is fun. It's OK. Maybe buy it on sale at a steep discount.
