Good game

Have about 50 hours not tracked by Steam, Aside the lack of co-op like CV1, CV2 is a improvement in all areas of gameplay which is really nice. The open world is fine, but I have no issue with that design in general and do enjoy it more than not in this. Still need to finish Base game and am looking forward to the DLC a lot based on what I've seen. But again, the lack of co-op is a heavy hit for something that would be close to a personal 8-9/10 if it just had co-op.

If you Liked the first game, then dont play this. It lacks some of the best things the first game had like Parry counters, quick drain combos and fun customization of abilities. the graphics are way worse too, but thats because the games new open world map is large. fighting enemies feels unbalanced too. Code Vein 2! A sequel to the very edgy and certainly dubious Soulslike from years ago which I thought Bandai forgot about. Now that I've 100%'ed it, I shall leave my worthless opinion for your viewing pleasure. TL;DR: It is a fun game. It is not a bad game. It is a decent game. It is a 6/10 at most. It is worse than Code Vein 1 in pretty much all aspects. Only buy if you really want a new game that (kind of) follows Code Vein's world and gameplay style. Only get at a deep discount. Just buy Code Vein 1 instead, if you want something actually great. So, getting this out of the way first: the game runs like ♥♥♥♥. For what my specs are, and for how pretty the game looks (that is - definitely not pretty enough), I would expect to run this at 100+FPS, or at least 60+, without needing to resort to nearly 60% render scaling. That said, it's still very playable, and I might've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself by trying to run this at 4k. Blame the fact that there is no fullscreen mode that is not at your monitor's resolution, and I could not be bothered to lower my system settings for a single game. The story... Really excellent. Like with CV1's premise of "Dark Souls 3 but it's a good game", Code Vein II operates on the premise of "Elden Ring but it's a good game". Most of the pain points ER has are solved by CV2, and the carryover of older mechanics from CV1 means that most of the artificial difficulty present in Souls games disappears by removing the opportunity cost of experimentation, and in general there are few trap options. The expansion on the partner system also solves a lot of the issues CV1 had with it, and even lets you remove your partner as a separate entity while still gaining a benefit from them, which is a really nice change. My only real complaints are that the game is somewhat poorly optimized and can be prone to chug even on my rig (although the latest patch as of this writing claims to have done a lot to help with the processor load), and that it's a mechanical rather than narrative sequel to CV1. (This is only relevant because I really like God Eater, so if that's not you then you probably won't even notice.)

Fun game in my opinion.
