✦ AI summary

Deep Diving Simulator offers atmospheric underwater exploration with beautiful environments and a satisfying collection-based gameplay loop, but players consistently criticize its clunky, momentum-heavy controls that make navigation feel unwieldy and the large, landmark-sparse maps that can feel repetitive after initial exploration. Performance issues and dated quality-of-life problems also frustrate players, though some consider it a hidden gem worth experiencing despite these frustrations.

The controls feel clumsy, there is way too much braking distance so moving around feels unwieldy. Which is somewhat the whole point of the game. Moving around, collecting things. The scenery can be nice I suppose but it can also be repetitive. If you've been to a zone you get the general idea but maps are too large with too few landmarks to be meaningful.

Deep Diving Simulator, developed by Jujubee S.A. and published by Salient Games, sets out to capture the quiet fascination of exploring the ocean’s depths while blending in light simulation elements to give that experience structure. It places players in the role of a diver sent into various underwater locations around the world, tasked with recovering objects, documenting marine environments, and navigating the inherent dangers of the deep. At its best, the game offers moments of calm immersion, where the act of simply moving through water and observing your surroundings becomes the main appeal. The gameplay is built around a mission-based structure rather than open-ended exploration. Each dive has a clear objective—collect artifacts, locate specific items, or clean debris from the ocean floor—and these tasks provide a sense of direction that keeps the experience approachable. However, this structure also limits the sense of freedom that might be expected from a diving-focused game. Instead of freely charting your own course through vast underwater spaces, you are guided through contained areas designed around specific goals. This makes progression easy to follow, but it can also…

Quite the hidden gem I found here on steam! The environments ranged from shallow coral reefs to eerie shipwrecked strewn waters and ancient temples claimed by the ocean, that all felt unique and worth exploring. And this is what the game does best, the exploring! The game reinforces this by setting an amount of stuff to collect before you can move onto the next map, which in a way showcases the diffrerent areas each map as to offer. However, the swimming can get some getting used to as it is very momentum based and you can often overshoot where you want to go. I found it quite fun but it will not be everyones cup of tea. It also doesn't run that well, and you can definitely feel the low frames from time to time, but then again that may just be my PC. TLDR, if you like a relatively chill underwater exploration with item collection, give this a shot!

Deep Diving Simulator by Jujubee S.A./Salient Games Genre: First-person exploration/collection/survival I actually like this, a lot! The graphics are beautiful and definitely immersive, evocative of being underwater. The sound is pretty great too, and gameplay loops, involving diving for treasure and story completion, is satisfying... There are some things that have been left since the updates stopped over six years ago (thanks to one of the third-party Steam website extensions for telling me this), however, that do speak to control and quality of life issues: When you have a tool such as the healing gun equipped - and from my experience they can only be accessed by the defaults - top number row, not the numpad or any other keys you rebind - you lose the ability to swim up or down and must point yourself at an angle to swim vertically - and you cannot un-equip the tool unless you find a collectible to take in the environment. Accessing the roll controls - to help you re-orient yourself if you find yourself not parallel to the ocean floor - is also unreliable, and may also be linked to having something equipped. Other than those things, this is a worthwhile journey underwater a…
