✦ AI summary

Extricate is a solid movement-based speedrun platformer that uses bunnyhopping and strafing mechanics in an accessible yet skill-rewarding package, with 50 levels that gradually introduce new challenges and gimmicks. Players praise the polished feel and good value, though some find frustration with certain mechanics like fans and kill obstacles, particularly when pursuing the harder diamond medals. For only about $5 AUD at the moment this game is great. I already sunk like 2 hours into it doing main levels and bonus levels. Finished the game now all I have to do is work on getting diamonds and golds. I feel like I got my money's worth out of this.

Fun movement-based platformer.

The game is very solid and highly enjoyable especially for speedrunner and bunnyhopping afficionados. Could definitely be seen as a hidden gem by some. The game is as it says on the cover - a level-based speedrun game utilizing bunny hopping and strafe mechanics popularized through source games. The complexity of the movement is toned down significantly to make it accessible regardless of your familiarity with the mechanics, but also allow for a high degree of mastery. The movement as well as game feel is certainly well polished, and offers plenty of content in the base game on top of that. There are 50 levels total, which gradually amp up the difficulty as well as introduce new gimmicks or obstacles, such as moving and rotating platforms, difficult cycle-based sections and more. The game is not afraid to be difficult, with a lot of hazards to avoid on any given level, which makes even just beating some levels pretty tough. However, it being a speedrun game, the level design is open-ended, offering lots of possible skips, be it intended or not. Likewise, due to momentum mechanics, figuring out some skips is both a challenge and great fun, and makes some times extremely mec…

Extricate is a pretty simple game where the goal is to get from the start of each stage to the end in the fastest time possible. It's pretty fun. Until it isn't. Beating the game on its own is pretty simple and fun, getting all the golds can be kinda challenging but still very doable. The diamond (dev) medals, on the other hand, are EXTREMELY difficult, especially the later ones. The movement and gameplay is pretty alright, it feels good when you figure out how the strafing works, but some of the mechanics really suck. The fans might have the worst handling I've seen in a game, the jump pads can be somewhat hard to hit when you're moving pretty fast, and the kill obstacles just find their way into your path at the worst times. It's a fun game when it isn't really annoying, so I think its okay. Nothing to ride home about.

Pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good for less than a $1 on sale. It's a bunny hopping parkour sim which a bunch of levels. It's simple, it works, and it's cheap. Good filler game and beyond.
