Infinite Orienteering: The Hiker's Path

This orienteering simulator is a must buy for anyone that loves land navigation and/or orienteering! Randomly generated maps also help with replayability! The most recent update improved graphics and the mountainous terrain with improved contour lines was also a nice upgrade! The sound could be improved and the footsteps are a bit too loud but that is only a minor gripe to an otherwise fun experience! As someone who loves navigation, I would like to see a survival mode added where the player starts with only a standard topo map and baseplate compass, then has to navigate through the terrain to locate a designated extraction zone. No GPS or player-position marker, just navigating using terrain association.

Promising orienteering simulation project. The game is still to be improved but with awesome potential. 100% glad to back it up, I hope it will continue to grow.

If you have several controls hooked up to your PC, you may encounter issues such as flickering menus, spinning maps etc. This can be resolved easily by systematically disconnecting each control in turn and observing whether the issues persist. Disconnection of the offending control will bring proper function. I am led to believe that the devs are aware of this and are planning to resolve it very soon. Anyway.... it's quite a while since I last did any real-world orienteering, but I soon got the hang of thins again. I must say I am blown away by the game so far - it is awesome! Some people have complained about the graphics, AI assistance etc.. but personally I have no problem with these matters. Devs, you have done a stellar job of work here, and in my opinion you can be proud of your creation. Could you improve on what you have done so far? Maybe. I have two suggestions. The first concerns the boundaries of the map - as things stand, the edges appear as a blank, impenetrable 'wall'. I have absolutely no idea how to go about this, but would it be possible to 'wrap' the map in some way? I'm thinking of something like an HDRI sphere. Horrible terrain generation, terrible physics, awful performance. Not worth in any way.

So after the latest update, I am glad to change this to positive review. It definitely performs a lot better than it used to, and my hope is that this will be a continued subject for future updates as well. Please keep up the good work!

As much as I would like to give a positive review, as it is great to see an orienteeting game, I am afraid the game is not mature enough. The concept of procedural worlds is great, but the terrains and especially the courses are not built with the quality one expects for orienteering. I like the execution, the game controls (mouse and keyboard) are fine, the map behaves well, quite close to the real competition. Some UI polish would be nice, but for a niche product like this I think this is acceptable. In the first course I have tried one control was not present (or was hidden in a stone). It was course with the default seeds {1 and 1], the control should be near a stone, close to a fence, I am sure I was at the correct location, but the control was not there.
