Mediocre at best. Story is almost nonexistent and even then it's an unfinished joke with no real ending. Gameplay is repetitive, annoying and boring. The only good parts are visual style (for some) and little to none bugs.

Plays like it was designed by someone who's heard of Devil May Cry games, and possibly even seen videos of gameplay, but has never actually played one themselves.

6/10. I was sitting on a hesitant 7/10, but the ending was deeply unsatisfying. It's got pretty good art direction, and it scratches some of the itches of a 2D character action game like Devil May Cry, but there were a lot of *little* things that I found unappealing. The boss fights (and most mid sized mooks) all have a stagger gauge before you can combo them, which is fine, but the stagger gauge takes a long while to empty and refills very fast so you spend most of the hard fights abusing hit-and-run. The dialogue is all over the place on mixing, some characters are near inaudible and others are perfectly fine. The script itself is a little uninspired, but it works-- however, a significant number of mistakes, punctuation, etc. really took me out of the experience. If you like 2D games and DMC-esque combat, I'd probably suggest Valdis Story instead, though it does have a much less arcadey and a much more Metroidvania esque feel.

A stylish action platformer with some clear inspirations, but still has it's own identity. Quick Pros: -Combat isn't based just on memorizing light and heavy attack string combinations -Combat structure that has clear design on how to balance it's crowd control -New abilities gained almost after every boss defeat -You can basically earn all moves, abilities, and upgrades in one difficulty playthrough -3 difficulties available at the start with more unlocked after certain conditions -2 unlockable modes with multiple difficulty options -Some quests have hidden things to find -Some very well animated cutscenes -Many unlockable color palettes for the main character -Plenty of variety in boss tracks and quest zones -Voice acting for nearly all dialogue Quick Cons: -No retry option available after beating a quest or in the pause menu -Environmental hazards are oddly balanced, but you can turn these off -Some of the inspiration is a little distracting -Some voice dialogue is very low compared to others -1 battle track for non-boss quests, but this battle track does function dynamically: changes based on combat rank Game Mechanics Explained and Full Review Below: https://youtu.be/1y4G5f…

I have never seen a more promising game that is trying it's hardes to make itself frustrating instead of fun. I LOVED the demo, got the game and essentially the moment you get past the Demo levels the entire game is made into some kind of sadistic bullet hell (in a melee game, yes). "Oh yeah just get good" except the getting good part is not learning the game mechanics or enemy patterns, it's RNG on if they throw 3 hits that are undodgable while you're sliding on ice unable to actually control your movement IN A GAME THAT STATES IT'S ALL ABOUT MOVEMENT AND CROWD CONTROL So yeah, almost great but it's just designed like it hates you. Would have refunded if it wasn't for just getting past 2 hours. Imma go play a game that respects me learning it instead
