✦ AI summary

Screamer impresses players with its excellent art direction, stunning animated cutscenes, and outstanding soundtrack that creates memorable moments, though the pacing suffers from excessive slow 2D dialogue scenes and the racing mechanics, while solid, don't always feel meaningfully integrated into the story. The twin-stick control system is unique but divisive, and voice acting inconsistencies (particularly with mixed languages) detract from the experience, though players appreciate the clear effort and care put into the game overall.

It's somewhere between a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me. Its greatest strengths were definitely the art direction and music, both of which did a lot of the heavy lifting towards giving me chills during the final race. Story was overall interesting, but would have left a greater impact on me if more of it had been told via its beautifully-animated cutscenes instead of the 2D scenes of them simply talking to each other. The latter reminded me a lot of the old-school Fire Emblem games on the Game Boy Advance and were not nearly as impactful as the cutscenes. The 2D scenes are still voice acted, at least. Gameplay was overall fun. I appreciated the uniqueness of the twin-stick control system, but I ended up switching to single-stick input because I just couldn't get the hang of the twin-stick scheme. I also played on easy mode because I suck at racing games, but even then there were some races that simply felt impossible to win if I fell behind. Mostly on maps with a lot of sharp turns, meaning there weren't any straightaways I could reliably use my boost on to catch up. The most frustrating aspect of the gameplay, however, was that I think this game utilizes adaptive difficulty. There were …

An alright game, nothing really THAT special but it was pretty nice, less like playing a game and more like watching anime with gameplay between the episodes. OST was pretty nice but I have nothing else to say, which could be seen as a bad thing but it is what it is. 7,5/10 I personally enjoyed it, but I can see why someone wouldn’t. Edit: nah, scrap that. OST is fire, story was nice, gameplay was good, is’s a nice game. I added OST to my playlist, enjoying listening to it, thinking about the story, hell yeah, that’s what a good game should be like. 9/10

This is one of the first games I almost did not recommend. First off, I think the racing mechanics are really good and the cinematic cut scenes are amazing. However, the execution on a whole made me give up on this game. The entire first Chapter (28 scenes) is paced so slowly with almost entirely Persona style 2D character models talking to each other and really short races. Also if you select English as the voice over, they only voice over one character from each team. The rest are left in their native language. Kind of a weird choice to see someone talk French to a Spanish speaker and the Spanish speaker talk Spanish back. I think they also do a horrible job justifying the races and making them meaningful. They are in this large competition, yet you never see a scoreboard or have them say "we need this race because we are behind in points". It is just kind of like "oh we need to give you a tutorial on this guy's power so here's an ambiguous race to test it in". The weight really feels like it is missing. I am sure it picks up towards the end, but the lack of cinematic cutscenes to keep your attention and the meaningless races really made me set the game down. I think there is an…

Great cars. Great fun. You can tell that a lot of effort and care went into this game.
