Wonderful game made by a wonderful person I am deeply grateful to. I might be quite prejudiced, yet I actually like that game. Had some really nice fun with it!
The not-so-zen Space Invaders-style roguelite to sink hours into
The concept of taking Space Invaders and turning it into a full-fledged roguelite seems like such a simple idea - and yet this is the first time I've seen it executed this well. While the win conditions may be somewhat set-in-stone for some of the ships, no two runs are ever the same, and you're often forced to make difficult decisions, both in battle and with mid-run upgrades. The persistent upgrades available from the hangar are an interesting choice, making runs go from near-impossible to much more manageable. All of this is in regards to Campaign A, the "main mode" of the game. Zen mode tests your endurance against an infinitely-strengthening enemy force, while keeping all of the roguelike luck elements. The recently-added Campaign B, on the other hand, is a much different story, feeling almost closer to a bullet hell shmup than Space Invaders, and being a nail-biting test of skill, decision-making, and luck for even the best of players. Even once you're bored of Campaign A, there's still plenty of things to come back to. I can wholeheartedly say this is the most fun take on Space Invaders I've gotten …
