Bonfire Peaks

I'm playing Bonfire Peaks on my Lenovo Legion Go S handheld and it works very well. It took me a while to get use to the movement rules in Bonfire Peaks, probably because they were unrealistic. But once I got past that I started to really enjoy the game. It's a great game to pick up for a while to complete a level or two. I am enjoying it more than some of the other recent Dreknek & Friends games (I really liked the earlier ones but the more open world ones didn't appeal to me as much).

Lovely little puzzle game. Bonfire peaks reminded me a lot of Stephen's Sausage Rolls and as any puzzle veteran will tell you, that is very high praise. Bonfire Peaks has a few initially simple mechanics about burning your voxel shaped belongings on a bonfire in a beautifully rendered world. I had a great time with it throughout. It managed to teach, build and recontextualize its mechanics in an ever incremental way that left me absolutely hooked to solve the next puzzle. I loved the presentation and had a great time with the puzzles. This is a great game for puzzle veterans and newcomers alike. There is still room for more greatness but especially as part of the Draknek & Friends Puzzle Bundle, I highly recommend you pick this up.

Gotta admit this game beat me, it got to the point that i vouldnt solve anymore puzzles so i couldnt progress. Im old school, so i refuse to look up a guide on how to solve the last few. The game is good if you like puzzles and figuring out things after multiple failures. Played mostly on my steamdeck and phone via gamenative, and ran great. The art style is unique as hell and looks great. Highly recommend this game if you like difficult puzzles towards the end game.

I generally lose patience with puzzle games I play solo (I play most with my wife), but Bonfire Peaks kept me gripped from first moment to last. Its lovely voxel art and comfortingly melancholic atmosphere - created largely by its gorgeous lighting and soothing ambient soundtrack - create a world that I loved escaping to. This meant that I hardly ever got frustrated with the tricky puzzles. This lack of frustration is also helped by the flexible progression system: you do not have to complete every level to progress. The wonderful overworld (one of my favourite video game overworlds ever) is generous with the choice of levels it offers. If you can’t do one, just try another. I completed about 70% of the levels on my climb to credits. (Things do get harder, and the progression less flexible, towards the end, and I did have to look up a few hints, but then I’m no puzzle fiend). The puzzles are sokoban-based but offer much more space and freedom to experiment than other games I’ve played in this sub-genre.
