Halls of Nyarlathotep

It's solid. I didn't get very far in it, only got to the first boss after boobing around on stream for over 3 hours (I suck at games), but it's definitely solid. The weapons aren't too numerous, but the upgrades you get for them are really cool. The visuals are honestly really cool. The sound design could use a bit of tweaking, but is overall pretty good. I'm unsure if this is an issue in further levels, but the first area is a bit too predictable, despite being procedurally generated. You spawn in a central square-shaped maze, and each side has a door to another small section of maze that can contain a key. And you repeat this three times, with floor 2 and 3 requiring 2 and 3 keys respectively. And if you suck, like me, you'll be repeating this a LOT. And it just felt a bit disappointing, I suppose, especially given this game is normally $15. I hope that things are different after the first area, and remain optimistic that this is just a first area issue. I look forward to what else this game holds, and will update my review as I complete more (unless I forget.) Halls of Nyarlathotep (what a tongue twister!) is first and foremost a roguelite dungeon crawler in a Lovecraftian setting. You will be going through procedurally generated, maze-like levels, trying your luck and skill against a plethora of enemies and traps. Like many roguelites, it's not easy, but it is fun; even though it's still pretty early in its development cycle, it already gives me that "just one more quick round" feeling. I have to admit that I'm a sucker for Cthulhu-inspired settings, and this one delivers. It's hard to call this game "scary", especially considering its combat-oriented gameplay, but it has this eerie, unsettling vibe that scratches my itch perfectly. Those strange eyes following me everywhere around... geez. Love it. Overall, if it’s this addictive while still in the Early Access, it’s a must-play for roguelite-fps fans. Highly recommended!

Only started and I am not that into roguelikes, but man, the graphics are staggering. Even if I feel like a drunk noob shooting beams into the nightmares, it feels like the best experience on screen in 2026.
