A fascinating and surprisingly sincere game full of creative puzzles and a barely comprehensible story that hooked me from the moment I stumbled across the shop page until I got the true ending. It won't appeal to everyone and there are still some technical issues and bugs, but as someone who loves weird, experimental meta horror, this is definitely a surprise winner for me.

This game is brilliant and interesting. It makes you engage with other media such as your file directories and web browser. It is meta, quirky and definitely doing something new and unique. This game is also a glitchy mess. You are strongly encouraged to use specific screen resolution and for good reason. Unfortunately, even when following the system requirements, the game doesn't always cooperate. This is the type of meta game where you need to switch into another window. If you Alt+Tab into it, half the time it'll break the game in new and interesting ways. Most of the time this is a minor issue as you can quit and return. It does get very frustrating during longer chapters where the game breaks right before the next save point, resulting in having to slog through the same minigames and puzzles again. I'm not sure if I can recommend this game right now. I am giving it a thumbs up in a "51% is more than half" kind of way. It is good enough that I want to see it succeed. Instead of refunding it for being glitchy, I am going to install it and hope it gets patched enough that it is consistently playable.

A very interesting experimental horror game with some jank issues. In the opening, it was telling me to check a new folder for a game.dll file but there was nothing there. In the end,
I just saved a .txt file called game.dll and used that as a solution for the rest of the sequence.
There's no walkthrough so not sure if that was the intended solution. There's definitely some issues with sound mixing on sound effects so would have appreciated a separate music and SFX volume mixer. Once I finished Window 4 and tried to go to Window 5, however, the game told me I hadn't unlocked that yet and was trying to make me replay Window 4 again? I lost interest after that, but what I saw so far was a solid first published game.

The Window 8:Millennium is an experimental psychological horror game that transforms the player’s computer into part of the horror experience itself. Developed by AfterTee, the game combines Y2K internet aesthetics, ARG-inspired puzzle design, surreal storytelling, and fourth-wall-breaking mechanics into an unsettling digital nightmare that constantly blurs the boundary between fiction and reality. Rather than functioning like a traditional horror game built around exploration or survival mechanics, it behaves more like an interactive psychological trap designed to make players question their own system, their surroundings, and even the game itself. The result is one of the more unusual and creatively disturbing indie horror experiences in recent years. The atmosphere is easily the strongest part of the game. From the very beginning, The Window 8:Millennium recreates the feeling of late-1990s and early-2000s computer culture with surprising accuracy. Distorted desktop interfaces, low-resolution graphics, CRT-style visual filters, corrupted menus, strange popups, and unstable operating-system simulations all work together to create a world that feels trapped somewhere between nosta…
