[b]Story[/b] From the very begining, it sounds like the intro to a cliché teen movie. Nothing very groundbreaking, but it's cute and I like it. The character is a young "not a girl, not yet a woman" (18) who wants to be an astrophysicist and runs away from home to go to university. I started this review by laughing at the way characters talk in the game, but don't get me wrong it's charming and fits the style. It just took me by surprise at first and had a good laugh. [b]Puzzles[/b] The concept is very creative and unique. I like that it makes me think differently then other puzzle games. The paper folding is a new kind of spatial reasoning for me. I am used to polyomino games and similar stuff, but thinking about where the elements will be once the paper is folded this way or that way is taking some getting use to which I very much appreciate. I love games that make my brain work. It might not be the most challenging puzzle game out there, but it is very interesting and it does make me stop and think about how to do what I have to …

Found this gem at the gamescom! Original puzzle gameplay in a beautiful package, what more could I want?

[b] Fold your way through. [/b] The main mechanic of folding paper to solve puzzles is well-executed and creative. Some levels are too big and take too long to complete, which can make the game a little boring at times. For those who like more of a challenge, there are also collectibles that require a bit more thinking. [i] But if you get stuck on some puzzles, there are in-game hints that will help you solve them. [/i] The story isn't anything special, but it works well as a backdrop for the puzzles.

cute, lightweight puzzle game. Nothing too challenging but does make you think a bit at times. I'd liken it a bit to monument valley - a bit more cozy atmosphere and straightforward story, but simply controls with some basic puzzle around a gimmick (folding the world like paper). It's a nice game to kick back and unwind with for a while, for when you want to think a little bit but not too much.

I'm glad I bought this game. Its art, music, story and voice acting are cute and endearing. I played some sessions long enough that I found the music pleasantly stuck in my head the next day. I thought the level designs in this game were enjoyable and challenging. If you're patient and can explore the next move options carefully enough, you can solve all the levels and pick up the bonus origami without relying on the hints feature. That felt like enough for me as far as achievements goes. There are more achievements to unlock, including a speedrun, but completing the game in less than 4 hours sounds a bit too difficult for me even after completing all the levels once. If you enjoy the puzzle platformer genre, Paper Trail is a solid choice.

This game is like an actual paper puzzle book: One puzzle per page, using both sides. And just like a paper unfolded on your desk, you can see everything from the start, sip some coffee, and think about your next move. It felt really fresh and meditative to play, with no real pressure. I didn't want or need the later gimmicks, but the hinting system was fair and helpful. EXCEPT. A lot of good in this game is negated if you want those achievements. Beat the clock! Don't take any hints! Get [i]all[/i] the achievements! I guess they demonstrate a certain prowess, but it feels like the target for those is niche on niche. All said though I still recommend the game for doing something cool and different.
