✦ AI summary
Players appreciate this budget liminal walking simulator for its atmospheric visuals and effective depiction of backrooms and liminal spaces, with some finding it worthwhile for the low price. However, common complaints include slow walking speed, unclear direction/objectives, tedious camera mechanics, and uneven level design where difficulty feels arbitrary rather than well-balanced, leaving many with a middling overall impression despite respecting the developer's effort.
It's getting harder to write reviews for some of these games. Mostly because the game isn't bad enough for a negative but I feel bad if one of my friends bought this because I gave it a positive review. It's kind of like someone threw something together to make it just barely passable so they could make a few bucks. I mean the game is only $.99 so I don't know what I expected. I guess for $.99 it's something to do but you will probably be left feeling kind of meh. Well here's my honest review: There's three levels, first one is hard, last one is easy and second one is something in between. You can pick which to travel to from the menu. I didn't care for backrooms level one, it was painfully boring, visually and otherwise. The camera shake and wonky walking is maddening plus the time/date stamp on the screen seems like it should disappear. The sprint is like normal walking. I couldn't even finish this level. So I tried the poolrooms level 3 which was nicer to look at but when they say easy they aren't kidding. One room I walked out of the elevator across the room to the other elevator, done. And like so many poolrooms games the tippy tappy foot steps really ruin the lovely atmosph…9 found this helpful

A Liminal Place Remastered is a fascinating independent project that fully commits to the concept of liminal horror. Developed and published by Mirage Entertainment, the game invites players into an unsettling collection of empty environments inspired by internet folklore, dreamlike memories, and the increasingly popular Backrooms subgenre. Rather than delivering a conventional horror campaign filled with enemies and scripted scares, it focuses on the emotional impact of isolation. Its environments are designed to evoke a strange sense of nostalgia, presenting locations that feel oddly recognizable despite never having existed. The result is an experience that is equal parts atmospheric exploration and psychological immersion. The game's presentation immediately stands out through its use of a body camera perspective and detailed lighting techniques. Every hallway, flooded chamber, and abandoned room is framed as though it were recovered footage from a forgotten expedition. Ray-traced reflections contribute significantly to the visual identity, creating subtle details that make the environments feel more tangible. While the settings themselves are often minimalistic, their careful…

fun little game if you like backrooms or liminal spaces for the price very good do wish for faster walking speeds but very fun fast game!
This game almost got a scathing review and frankly, it still might deserve a scathing review lol. I have 1.5 hours on this game: .5 of that was spent giving up on my first attempt at this game. The next HOUR was like my third attempt. For a liminal game: whilst a bit more spooky than i prefer (it is a backrooms game with no monsters keep in mind) this game has visuals that make the game feel really good as a liminal game, It also feels like i watched the same tutorial by unrealitybytes on how to make a backrooms level . The first levels design feels liminal in some of the same ways that Kane Pixels original series on the backrooms felt. And the later levels are really good liminal levels almost comparable to a liminalcore or pools. the usage of an occassional skylight showing you parts of the level youll never reach is amazing. UNFORTUNATELY the first level is a maze where you need to find a key to unlock the door. 50 minutes i spent in the same level and never found it. I dont think i found it on the successful attempt and after enough time the door just unlocked itself. The first level overstays its welcome so hard that it can ruin the experience. But if you can get p…
