AI is Home - Survival Thriller

Game is unpolished, doesnt feel like a fully closed story. It has a few good finds, like videoclips of people in house, but overall is quite boring and hard to read (also there were UI bugs that obstructed the console with text during house segments). Ironically, game feels like written by an LLM, while being about LLM. And you can make a good story with help from an AI, but you have to write it yourself and use it to lighten the process, not to do work for you. As of release state - can say that I expected more of a story of AI breakout, but it didn't felt very much like one. You could replace AI in story with a ghost that escaped the afterlife into his old house and kind of nothing would change.

Broken as all hell. This will not launch with the steam deck, it says interpreter issues. Ok I tried it on my PC. In the 7 minutes I have tried to play the game it has crashed five times, refused to acknowledge my keyboard, refused to acknowledge mouse clicks, saying no to using my real camera locked the game so I could not proceed. I have spent a week trying to play this game and finally accumulated enough play time to leave this review by letting it sit on the opening screen for 4 minutes. This game is a mess, and after reading the descriptions from other reviews I have zero confidence a developer that would lie about their AI use would actually fix their game.

I want to like it, but a few things stood out. Disclaimer: I played it through once, as I take it there are multiple endings. I got a... I guess bad one? - Writing is how we'd call "moîte-moîte" (so so). The character of a kid is written like it has special needs and I'm being polite here. The (I guess) main drama is a little too obivous and the smart hacker kid also has no edges and is just pure cliché. - Minigames are ok, driving the roomba around is fun, in a weird way. - Also, asking for access to your webcam is a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ no-no. I guess the developers wanted to give the eerie feeling of and AI in your house and they succeeded with it. But yeh. Nah. Again: the concept is really cool, but as I said, it falls apart with the writing.

For the price I have to say really enjoyed the game, it is very short, I've already played through 3 times and tried a few different options. Don't come here expecting a 100% polished game, but for the price, I had a whole evenings fun.. I even managed to get it to run on my Steam Deck! As a concept I think it's a brilliant idea, and with some great writing this could be the start of a great series, more scope to include more smart home devices and more ways to control them.
