Albatroz

I took a bit of a break after about an hour of play in my first session, after reaching the mist village and unlocking the second playable character. I loaded up the game today in order to get something out of it, but unfortunately there is just too much jank in the controls and technical issues (the world loading for half a minute while my character "flies" in place after leaving a building). I feel that games like this, where the goal is to relax and just recharge mental batteries, really need to be extra careful in ensuring that the experience is as care-free as possible -- not to say anything about the default difficulty being a bit too annoying in terms of resources that you need to gather and use every few seconds. At least that part can be customized. While the game is quite beautiful in spots, the graphics are also weirdly subpar for the performance hog it turns out to be on your GPU and overall system. You can customize a lot of the settings, but this is another case of the game requiring you to put some effort into making it work right, where the whole premise of cozy games is that you should just be able to pick them up and play. [i]Albatroz[/i] demands a hefty price …

Really janky controls and movement. Not in the sense that it's unpolished, in fact, it feels like the design is very intentional, which perhaps makes it worse. The world looks fine (insane graphics but not a lot of stylistic vision, imo, but that might just be me) but the characters' faces move awkwardly. I admittedly had really high expectations for this game, so that might be why I'm being so harsh with it, but I have played several games with similar gameplay, and none of them left me as disappointed as Albatroz to the point of refunding it.

This is a lovely game with great ideas. Although the execution suffers from severe technical issues (e.g. bugs), the core is so fantastic that can carry it through. I love the open-ended exploration, the challenge of reading a map and following landmarks, and even the tension of the survival elements. The characters so far are charming, particularly Sence, Again, beware that there is some jank, but if the premise interests you and you're the kind of player that can suffer through some rough edges to enjoy a core made with love and passion, I highly recommend it.

Nice Indie Backpacking/storytelling game, but it's buggy nature may turn you away. But out of this world music and views in some areas. A game where introspection and original storytelling meet is a one of the best combination ever made in gaming, much alike to Shadow of the Colossus and Death Stranding, Albatroz pairs a original/mysterious story with open world traversal, giving a great combination but its indie development and asset mash can be very frustrating, making it the game with most bugs i have everplayed. If you like exploring what Indie games are at their core give this a try, but be wary of bugs ; so I would encourage getting it on sales in case of doubt. In my humble opinion this game would have benefited froma shorter gameplay with more polished world or more condensed as it feels like their is too much bread for that butter, basically left me wondering what this game with a shorter more Journey type 2-7 hr playthrough could have been instead of my 15 hr playthough, but yet again this clearly emulates open world greats so maybe would lose part of it soul when shrinking the world. I have never been one to not recommend a game before. There are many things to love about this game. But it is riddled with game breaking bugs that out weigh the enjoyment you could have playing it. I streamed 39 hours of this game, doing my best to enjoy the exploration and magnificent world that was created here. I even lowered all my settings, and went to story / easy mode to play it. But time after time i would have fatal crashes, unplayable glitches, unforgiving character resets that blocked progress of the game. I verified files, I deleted saved files thinking they may have been corrupt. I uninstalled and reinstalled and re verified. The game has over 61000 game files. Let that sink in. It has been in full release for over a year now. I have played Early Access games with less bugs and problems, let along a fully released game. I play a free to play game that is more satisfying and story driven. The only reason I played 39 hours, was because I was stubborn and wanted to know the ending. There are steam achievements that are just game progress related with 7.7% of players achieving and one that is only 1.3% of players. I know I am not the only one tha…
