About Alien Infection

Alien Infection is a Hardcore Arcade Twin-Stick Shooter, featuring full VR support.

Building this game my goal was to create a simple yet addictive experience with high replayability value.
I was greatly inspired by many successful arcades, top-down actions and zombie shooters.
What started as a simple twin stick shooter resulted in a beautifully violent hardcore game.

Plot:

Humanity has found a nuclear energy source on the passing asteroids.
The energy crystals people were mining for several years appear to be a non-biological alien life form.
Aliens are infecting and killing people rapidly, turning human bodies into biological vessels.

Game features:

 • Fast paced action
 • Addictive arcade gameplay
 • Survival mode to climb leaderboard
 • Campaign
 • Blood and gore!

As a fan of this type of genre ("twin stick") I was excited to see something like this in VR! And not only is this playable in VR on a range of hardware, its also playable on desktop too! Thats effort not many put in, and dwarfs even a certain AAA studio who literally could not be arsed testing their game on anything other than a rift.
**cough** Borderlands **coug--chokes**
I initially played this briefly pre-launch on the desktop, as it wouldnt launch in VR (issue resolved now.) I was concerned. It didnt seem that great and I figured I would be writing a bad review, however I must say VR does add something to the mix (as it tends to do), the game felt like it was making more sense. The problem is, even if it was a bit better, it still felt like an incomplete game. You spend your time with your right stick (if you happen to play with a controller that has one ;p) tilted constantly in order to fire. There is no ammo or reloading or anything. There is only 1 mob type that I have seen, and the objective is to collect green pixels (power) to fill a meter before you can move on to the next area - and repeat. Annoyingly there was intermittent mu…

this is not even a game, it's a tech demo of someone who just built their first demo in unity. very half-polished, lots of bugs.

No new enemies, no special powers, no upgrades, no new weapons, the levels don't even change, you're basically offered the chance to pick one of two weapons in the beginning of each level fighting the same enemies over and over again. one hit and you die and you'll need to repeat the same level over and over again. This game needs expand 10 fold to be interesting.

Simple cheap game lacking in polish and gameplay. Feels more like a prototype tech demo that never got finished.
