Angry Youth

Fun little game, cool idea, feels like the old games I came across in the early 90's. Could be a little longer, but survival mode gives it playability, and it might be fun in 2-player mode (haven't tried it). Won arcade mode in like 10 minutes. Very basic, bare bones, which is totally fine for an indie game, and it's only 3 bucks. Cool novelty game, but could be longer.

Very basic 2D fighting game with a quality that fits the $0.49 it cost on sale. There are three games modes -- Arcade, Versus (PvP), and Survival. In Arcade mode, you choose one of six youthful but irate fighters, fight all six of those fighters (including yourself as the last boss -- at least in my case) with three different moves (punch, kick, block), and that's about it. The difficulty increases with each fighter you encounter, with blocking becoming increasingly crucial for winning. In Survival mode you fight one AI player at a time until you die, regaining 20% after each victory (I won against 5 players in this mode). It took some time to figure out the controls (WASD, GHJ, P for pause), but to be fair they were listed in an attached PDF manual. The art style is charming and the game resembles the aesthetic of old Macintosh shareware. I had a decent time with it for the 13 minutes it took to beat Arcade Mode and give Survival Mode a whirl (with ~3-5 of those minutes being used to determine the controls and map them to my controller in Steam). Recommended if that experience sounds entertaining for you and you're not bothered by very simple gameplay.
