Apollo 11 VR (2016)

This sim was great until it stopped working a few years ago. I've noticed several comments regarding the same. The developer seems to have abandoned the sim.

A very nice history lesson.

For space nerds. It's a ride-along on the Apollo 11 mission, like the title suggests. You get to fly the rocket, connect to parts of the rocket in space, and land the lander. And bounce around on the moon, that's fun.

This is marketed as an "experience" rather than a "game", and that's accurate -- the whole thing can be finished in less than an hour, and even with zero interaction from the player. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because there are such media as interactive films, where the viewer has some control over the camera. But a person needs to understand what he's buying beforehand (specifically, that this is not a game in the usual sense). On the positive side, this title can be played from start to finish with non-VR hardware now. It was originally VR-only, but it received an update allowing people to play with basic monitor, mouse and keyboard. Some people are leaving comments that they are having display bugs, but I personally haven't seen any problems. As far as the interactive gameplay sequences, they seemed pretty disappointing to me. Some games are "a mile wide and an inch deep" in covering a certain subject. By its very nature, this type of "game" appeals to a technically-minded audience, so the better approach here would have been to make a "foot wide but ten feet deep" simulator.
