About Apollo 11 VR
Apollo 11 VR is a first person experience of the interior of the 1969 Command Module. Explore the cockpit firsthand in an authentic model of the interior based on scans from the Smithsonian. This is the 50th anniversary of the historic landing where Buzz Aldrin and Neal Armstrong walked on the surface of the moon on a site name Tranquility Base.
The Apollo spacecraft had three parts: a command module (CM) with a cabin for the three astronauts, and the only part that returned to Earth; a service module (SM), which supported the command module with propulsion, electrical power, oxygen, and water; and a lunar module (LM) that had two stages – a descent stage for landing on the Moon, and an ascent stage to place the astronauts back into lunar orbit. The astronauts used Eagle's ascent stage to lift off from the lunar surface and rejoin Collins in the command module. They jettisoned Eagle before they performed the maneuvers that propelled the ship out of the last of its 30 lunar orbits on a trajectory back to Earth. They returned to Earth and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24 after more than eight days in space.
Armstrong's first step onto the lunar surface was broadcast on live TV to a worldwide audience. He described the event as "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

Apollo 11 VR is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 5ish minutes of background sounds, so if you hear static, you should call that the end of experience and exit. You are placed in the the interior of the 1969 Command Module, that had been scanned from the original. It is not solid, you can no clip through the whole scan and look from outside the capsule at the moon. The moon is not a detailed scan. There is no interactive objects. Try it, if you like the US Space program history.6 found this helpful
You are inside the cockpit of the Apollo 11 shuttle... and that it. You have what sounds to be authentic audio from the mission, but id be lying if i said i could understand half of it. The sound is ok i guess, it all seems to go in a loop While the control mappings (went to steam controllers) says you can use the trigger to interact with instruments, i couldnt find anything to interact with, so basically you are stuck inside and you can examine the small capsule. The graphics are ok, it seems to be a scan of the original ship, so thats pretty cool. It shows how CRAMPED the people that actually went to the moon where. Im giving it a Positive review because its FREE, and its educational, but really there is not much to it.5 found this helpful
