Arisen Force: Life Devotee - Initial Ver.

I just finished this and got 100% of the achievements. If you are a fan of high-octane pixel art action games, this is a great pickup, especially for the price (FREE!). Performance Review (Steam Deck OLED): I played through the entire game on my Steam Deck OLED (Linux SteamOS) . The game ran flawlessly from my Micro SD card with zero issues or crashes. More importantly, the pixel art and vibrant colors look absolutely gorgeous on the OLED screen. It’s the perfect device for this art style in my opinion. The Game Itself: The combat is surprisingly deep for a free title. You have all the mechanics you'd want (parries, charging, etc.), and pulling them off feels responsive and stylish. The level design is a creative take on Journey to the West, though the story can be a bit hard to follow due to the localization. A Note on Translation: Just as the developers warn in the description, the translation is rough because it's a "mechanical" translation based on Chinese mythology and memes. funny to play. But no story line. Battles are difficult to me in general. Use a lot to time to replay level to upgrade.

got stuck on the level with the frog guy in it, literally no matter what i do i can't progress. other than that pretty good game tbh. monkey king kills tripitaka within the first 5 minutes

Arisen Force: Life Devotee - Initial Ver. is better than it's predecessor but not by a mile. It has a variety of stages, better but still bad translation, and has more bosses. I hate the fact however that you lose the passive skill tree you had on the first game, I also hate the fact that there's limited skills now compared to the first game, the same gameplay is just recycled from the first game which sucks because I wish it improved the best part of the game instead of just recycling it. I do appreciate that it has a story now but it wasn't exactly captivating. Imagine beating the entire game and there's a character you unlock at the end, normally there are games that do that but those games have good replayability while this one doesn't. I also appreciate the fact that the game is so much shorter because if it dragged as long as the 1st one, I would have had a less fun time. Overall, I think I can actually give this game a 5-6/10, a bit higher than the first one and since it's free and the fact that the enemies aren't damage sponges compared to the first game, maybe a 6.5/10.
