At Dead Of Night blends live-action footage with gameplay as you play Maya, a student trapped in a remote hotel who must communicate with ghosts using an ancient receiver to uncover a psychopath's dark secrets and save your friends. It's a uniquely immersive horror experience that seamlessly merges film and interactive gaming into something unlike anything else.
Maya is a student trapped in a remote hotel run by a psychopath called Jimmy Hall. Jimmy has tied up Maya's friends and locked them in their rooms, with evil intentions. Maya has managed to escape, but Jimmy is on the prowl looking for her. However, to get him to release her friends, Maya must uncover Jimmy's dark secret. Using an ancient ghost voice receiver she finds, Maya must communicate with the ghosts of Jimmy's past, who materialise around the hotel and gradually reveal their story.

AUDIO LATENCY
Because of the way sound is synced to the video in this game, some users may notice some audio latency, affecting lip-sync. This can be improved a lot in Windows 10/11 - not just in this game but lots of games - in Windows 11 by navigating to System > Sound > More sound settings > Speakers or headphones (on the Playback tab) > Properties > Advanced tab, then unticking the ‘Give exclusive mode applications priority' option.

This is a very unique horror/thriller experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Pros: - exquisite sound design. Can't get any better than this, especially in the horror genre - very scary jump scares! - controls are easy to pick up. You only need a mouse. - exceptional voice acting and acting - engaging story and good character development of the antagonist Cons: - a few annoying bugs here and there, but not game-breaking. - often not sure what to do or where to go, especially near the end. In my opinion, scrying mirror doesn't give enough hints for some tasks. - too much waiting around for Jimmy (the antagonist that chases you) to go away, which is a little painful for someone with ADHD1 found this helpful
Oh, dear Jimmy.. You make my heart beat faster when you're around.. Seriously, that's the most stressful game i've ever played. THAT'S WHY I LOVE IT.
