About Baalzebub
You do not remember how this happened or who you are. All of a sudden you found yourself in Hell and you want to get out. The only way seems to lead through the 14 levels of Hell. Each level except for the first one is ruled by a boss holding the exit portal key. Since you are in Hell, the level bosses happen to be the Hell's most important fallen angels such as Lucifer, Mammon, Dantalion, Furcas, Zagan, Belphegor or Asmodeus. They are very strong, yet each of them possess a vulnerability you might want to discover.
Make your way out through all of the levels of randomly generated infernal dungeon, get the keys, food, weapons and other items from dead monsters, overcome bosses and escape that horror! Try to beat the high score in the global Hall of Fame.
This is a survival turn-based dungeon crawler game resembling the rogue-like classics from decades ago.
Game controls
Use arrow keys, WASD keys or a game controller to move your hero and attack nearby enemy creatures. Click locations to set spell cast target or to shoot arrows (with a bow equipped and some arrows in your backpack). You can equip armor items to your hero's body. The equipped items wear when used. The backpack weight does matter. It affects the stamina and health params significantly. Make sure you watch the health and stamina all the time, because with zero health your hero will die forever. When entering a new level (also the first level), some items are hidden by default. This is especially true for the level map and the exit portal. You need to find the red scroll to uncover the hidden properties of the level. Such a scroll is unique and it is in possession of a random opponent.
Pros:

basic rouge-like dungeon crawler
it has some graphics
runs on a potato
grind

Cons:

no diagonal movement
lacks depth
feels like a mobile app
grind
It's not a bad game but there are free rouge-likes with better gameplay and more complex systems. I got to the 3rd level on the 1st try in about an hour and that got me the 3rd place in a world-wide ranking. I didn't feel compelled to try again. It might be because I know the genre and I'm pretty sure my playthrough was around 80% of my max skill. There are no in-game skills and I respawned with no items so the only thing I could change on my 2nd run was to "git gud" but even if I managed to play better I wasn't interested in more of the same repetitive content. On the subject of repetition, I highly recommend disabling music ASAP. SFX is okay. In the end I died due to walking. It first depleted my stamina then life (which is a good mechanic) while I had no more food, potions or scrolls and there were none in sight (which is a mediocre outcome since I was using resources in a rather restrictive manner). The only resource I never needed was mana…7 found this helpful
finally i found a Roguelike that actually plays like Rogue.. don't get me wrong, i love the Bullet-Hell stuff that's taken over the scene, but i always wanted to see what a pure Roguelike would look like with actual graphics instead of ASCII.. i wouldn't necessarily spend as many hours in this as other games i play, but i'd say this is a pretty good adaptation of Rogue..2 found this helpful
Suggestions: 1. The music is too repetitive. Needs to change up more. 2. Too easy to get lost because all the walls look the same. Need more wall designs. 3. Remove stamina, that is just no fun. 4. The map is huge and I was just lost and gave up before I even found level 2. This is why you need more wall designs. Needs something that informs where the exit is or something that informs the user what direction to go. Since it is hell you could have a temperature bar that shows that it is getting hotter. 5. I couldn't figure out how to use magic, need to inform user on how to do that.2 found this helpful
"Baalzebub" is a trashy low quality mobile app that was dumped on Steam as a cash grab. It's basically a ripoff of Hack/Rogue but with shallower, less interesting gameplay. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones or Commodore 64s. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $$0.99 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get …
Baalzebub takes a familiar demonic figure and injects a surprising dose of complexity. Baalzebub is portrayed as a character with more nuanced motivations, making his interactions with others intriguing. It's a turn-based dungeon crawler, which can be a fun genre for strategy enthusiasts and seems to have taken others' interest as well with the other reviews that have been (mostly) all positive. If you're looking for something different and enjoy a good reinterpretation of a familiar character, Baalzebub could be worth a try. Just be aware that it does feel clunky with the controls; this plays almost like an old Flash Game from Addictinggames.com to me.
