Baba Is You is an award-winning puzzle game where you can change the rules by which you play. In every level, the rules themselves are present as blocks you can interact with; by manipulating them, you can change how the level works and cause surprising, unexpected interactions! With some simple block-pushing you can turn yourself into a rock, turn patches of grass into dangerously hot obstacles, and even change the goal you need to reach to something entirely different.
The game has over 200 levels that experiment with the game's mechanics in a multitude of ways, requiring the player to understand and manipulate the rules of the game and figure out devious ways to make the objects in the game world interact.
The game was originally created for and won the Nordic Game Jam 2017. Baba Is You also won the Excellence in Design and Best Student Game awards in the Independent Games Festival 2018, and was nominated a finalist in 2 other categories, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. The game was made using Multimedia Fusion 2 by Clickteam.

Baba is by far one of my favorite puzzle games on Steam, not only due its incredibly charming art and great music, but because its one of the most unique sokoban (box pushing) games around. The mechanics are simple: you string nouns, verbs and conjunctions together and they rewrite the rules of the stage. Because of that, most stages don't have a fixed solution. Even though using the words is the "obvious" solution, there are several other mechanics they expect the player to abuse, such as using the words to push stuff away, creating virtual immortality by having yourself inside yourself, duplicating stuff by abusing programming logic, even altering reality itself when it suits you. The game starts easy, then gradually ramps up until it becomes aneurism-giving hard. Later levels are basically troll/kaizo tier, expecting you to known the game inside-out to abuse every quirk you can think of. And that is without talking about the secret/meta levels that require you to complete levels in insane ways to alterate the map system itself, which you can then solve (yes, solve the map system itself) to access even harder levels, like a matryoshka doll of pure madness and box pushing.
