Being a bit of a grognard when it comes to Napoleonic content I was not expecting anything with much substance. But I was wrong. The developers of this title have done their homework. On a scale of 1 -10 where 10 is the Movie Waterloo and 1 is Ridley Scots Napoleon, this game gets a solid 8 from me.

A tactical JRPG about a French chick and all the characters shout Japanese stuff when they attack. For some reason I find it hilarious in it's immersion breaking.

The map design does not allow for multiple strategies to win, but rather only allows one very specific way to play it to win. Stage 21 is so unfair. But the worst part is when 2 units die u completely lose your rewards.

Fun little FE type game with the added bonus of being able to save during battles. Go for it if you have an itch for cute girls fighting the french revolution :)

Ruined by turn limits... I forget exactly how many levels this change comes in, maybe 10 or so. This changes the game from tactics to an optimisation puzzle where there really is only one way to finish the level and you either luck into it the first time or replay until you do. This completely changes the nature of the game. At the start you can play the game on your own terms, being aggressive or defensive as and when you like and figuring things out as you explore the level. This is made worse by surprise events in the level, which won't be a surprise when you are inevitably forced to do it all again. You can set up for them making them trivial. Again, it goes from being a strategy game a loop where you are basically expcting to play each level twice to find the one critical path that will let you do it within the strict limits. (I think 'Into the Breach' did something like that too... and I tried 3 times across 2 different devices to get into that game and kept running into a similar situation where the only way to finish a level was to play it twice.) I really enjoyed this game up until the last third or so where things got trivially easy (I played on hard mode) outside of a few cheap tricks with reinforcement placement and a late game map gimmick. I ended up quitting at the very last map since it is literally story filler full of enemies with bloated health pools that I just didn't care enough to slog through. Pros: - The setting is interesting and the Fire Emblem style game mechanics all work and are fun to play with. - The weapon durability system is really good. Your weapons basically have limited uses that refill at the start of each map. I enjoyed how this system punished juggernauting with one unit while not requiring me to buy 100 basic weapons to reequip every mission - The music is good and fits the tone of the story well - There are a few secrets, which are fun to figure out - The skill system allows for a decent amount of customization Cons: - Class balance is horrible.
