Although this is one of my favorite games on the table, this implementation doesn't really allow you to play the game well at all. If you play with the AIs, they will either force you to agree with them or the computer will randomly choose. That defeats the entire point of the game to actually place things where they score the most points (or at least discuss things with your partner). If I could make all the decisions for my castle, I would love this. As it is, the game is not worth paying for (and they haven't updated the game since 2020, so not likely to be fixed).1 found this helpful
I have not a clue how I acquired this game. But it's devoid of fun and purpose. I hate turn based games and placing some sort of rooms and calling it fun? It's not my idea of fun. Uninstalled it, never to play it again! Buh-bye!
The calculation of points is not communicated correctly. It's not specified whether you always lose unless you are the first. It doesn't feel like it matters how much points your choices make. I had a particularly bad experience because between the ai and me 6 times it choose the ai's decision and I feel like those choices heavily affected my score, but again not sure how the final score is counted. If you just count the castles you had a hand in for your points, I should have been 2nd place, why did it say I lost? If it gives you win or lose through how much points you earned for the castles, why isn't every builder listed with their contribution? Why do I only see the castles from other players? Why isn't the player even listed with their castles at their placement? I assume second place is considered a loss by the game. But because it's unclear I see no reason in playing it further, because I don't feel like getting better at a game, that doesn't communicate it's appraisal correctly, because I have no chance at learning what I could have done better.
There is a supposedly fun board game behind this, but it seems that the digital version falls short. You either play with a friend or a bot, and he can change your orders without asking you. The game itself is boring, it seems there's no point for whatever's going on.
Between Two Castles – Digital Edition, developed and published by Daisu Games, is a faithful digital adaptation of the strategic board game Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig. Built around a clever blend of cooperation and competition, the game challenges players to draft and place room tiles in collaboratively constructed castles while still aiming to outscore their opponents. The core concept is deceptively simple: each player works with the neighbor on their left and the neighbor on their right to build two separate castles simultaneously. However, your final score is determined by the lower-scoring of the two castles you helped create, forcing you to balance cooperation carefully on both sides rather than focusing on a single strong partnership. This scoring twist creates a dynamic tension that defines the entire experience. Gameplay revolves around drafting tiles from a shared selection, then negotiating and deciding with your neighbors where those tiles should be placed. Each tile represents a specific room type—such as kitchens, bedrooms, corridors, or utility rooms—and each category scores differently depending on placement patterns, adjacency bonuses, or overall distr…
