Bloody Walls is a fast-paced, 2D retro survival action game that blends post-apocalyptic horror with a unique 4-bit Game Boy aesthetic. Set in a bio-weapon lab where an airborne virus has infected humanity, your goal is to descend through 10 dangerous floors to secure a temporary antidote while fighting off grotesque mutated hordes and completing side tasks for surviving residents. The game’s standout feature is its surprisingly tense combat mechanics. Rather than mindless spray-and-pray shooting, combat requires precise mouse positioning aiming directly over enemy hitboxes and careful distance management. Since weapons deal higher damage the closer you get, taking down enemies forces you to balance high-risk close-quarters attacks against the threat of instant death if a zombie reaches you. Combined with weapon upgrades, resource management, and a tick-down currency system, every floor presents a short, high-stress challenge. Where the game trips up is in its unforgiving permadeath structure and occasionally awkward mechanics. Dying on later floors resets your progress entirely, which can feel punishing when combined with tricky aiming hitboxes or mismanaging weapon buys. Still…

It’s a really good and challenging game, but I wish it had a variety of weapons and more levels.

An 8bit style arcade playing on nostalgia. Bloody Walls is a short small game that seems to mix several 90s and 2000s kind of games. Its Gameboy like presentation is only interrupted by the color red to show blood and enemies weak points. It also reminds me of those cool early flash games where indie gaming started to become global. You are some kind of survivor who is in a tall building, clean each floor and proceed to the next one until you finish the 10th floor. The game just ends after killing the last enemies, there's a promise of a sequel but that never happened. The game lets you pick your weapons, featuring different amounts of damage and cooldown. There's different enemies and some of the tougher ones require them to expose their weak point. Notably, the more annoying ones tend to be the ones who spawn other enemies infinitely. There's only one track in the entire game, a catchy rock guitar to wreack havoc. That's almost everything to this game, it's short, it's free, it's a little unforgiving. Is it inherently a bad game ? Bloody Walls is a small horror game built around a simple but unsettling idea: exploring an environment where the walls themselves become part of the horror. The concept immediately creates a strange atmosphere because ordinary rooms can feel threatening when something as familiar as the walls starts looking unnatural. It is clearly more interested in creating tension than delivering a huge horror adventure. The atmosphere is the strongest part for me. Dark environments, disturbing details and the feeling that something is wrong can make even simple exploration uncomfortable. I like horror games that allow me to become suspicious of the environment instead of constantly throwing monsters at me, and the title's central idea gives the surroundings a memorable role. Exploration is also important. I have to move through the environment carefully and pay attention to what changes around me. Looking closely at rooms and noticing unusual details can be more effective than simply running from one objective to another. It gives me a reason to slow down and actually examine the setting.
