Studio Pixel just has that something that makes these games feel so polished even when they're really simple and small. This is basically demo #1 for Kero Blaster, but after beating the normal and hard mode, I'm certainly keen to enjoy more!

Pink Hour is a tiny action platformer from Studio Pixel that I can finish surprisingly quickly, but I still think it is worth playing because it gets a lot right in such a small package. I play as the pink dressed office lady from Kero Blaster, who has to recover an important missing document before getting back to the office. The whole thing takes place in a cave filled with enemies and hazards, so the goal is basically to make it through safely, get the document and make it back. It is a very simple setup, but the cute pixel art and fast movement give it a lot of charm. The platforming feels good for something this short. I can run and jump through the cave, avoid enemies and use the environment to get around danger. There is also a shooting element, although jumping over enemies is often just as important as attacking them. I like that because it stops the game from feeling like a basic run and gun where I just hold a button and clear everything in front of me. The levels are small enough that I can learn them quickly, but there are still a few sections where I need to pay attention to my timing. The presentation is probably my favourite part. Pink Heaven is a Studio Pixel demo for a game by Studio Pixel from the creators of Cave Story (who might be Studio Pixel). The game is an entertaining mini-adventure with many reasons to try it out. Let's lay out the pros and cons: ---PROS--- 1. It is short so it won't take up too much time. 2. It provides a very small look at what the gameplay of Kero Blaster is like. 3. The music is pretty good. 4. The controls aren't complicated. 5. The game's isn't demanding on your hardware, you could probably run it on a toaster. 6. The game is cute. 7. The game is fancy. 8. The game technically has multiple endings. ---CONS--- 1. You can't immediately play hard mode. Which isn't too bad because the first good ending is cute. 2. Being able to quit to the menu at any point negates the point of of having limited lives, easily abusable on hard mode which is probably the only time you'd run out of lives anyway. As you can see, it is absolutely worth it to play this game, especially if you are a fan of Studio Pixel and the dozen ports of Cave Story.
