✦ AI summary

Bubble Dogs is a casual matching puzzle game with a charming concept of combining dog families, but players consistently note that the visual design undermines the experience—dog breeds look too similar to each other while sharing colors across different breeds, creating confusion and frustrating mistakes. The game also lacks polish in areas like tutorials, UI, audio controls, and accessibility options, making it feel rough around the edges, though some appreciate its low price point and addictive gameplay loop, especially for younger players.

Cute matching game not too dissimilar from Tetris. The icons might be a tad small or too closely resemble one another, so I wish that Bubble Dogs allowed the player to edit the bubble colors, or had a more defined style for the dogs' faces to avoid confusion — some bubbles are indeed minuscule and those do pose a problem. With that said, I am having a fun time, seems great for the younger crowd. Does work great on Steam Deck from the get-go. You'll be using the left trackpad and the triggers to interact with the game. 5.5/10 Casual matching puzzle with dogs. TLDR: if you have a toodler, it's a good game. Also you might enjoy it for a while if you're a dog lover. You drop randomly incoming circles with dog heads inside them and need to make groups of 3 dogs of the same breed (male + female + pup). The main challenge is that same-breed dogs don't look close enough, and at the same time similar colors may come up in different breeds. So it's easy to make mistakes. And it's mostly an attention-based sorting game. A neutral vote from me. Good: - pleasant casual tone overall and the cute idea to make "families" of animals that's heart-warming - it's fairly addictive So-so: - dogs of the same breed don't look similar enough yet the same colors come up across different breeds. This is confusing - which I guess is the challenge. Though to an adult it kinda gets boring, as attention-straining tasks can't hold an adult's interest for long. I guess, this should have been an option. E.g. several game modes where dogs can be colored differently. In some modes, each breed has its own main color, and all 3 dogs are of that or close colors. Then, in other modes, all dogs are randomly colored. In other modes …

💗 This game was gifted to Indie Therapy for review. Similar to the popular Suika Watermelon Game, Bubble Dogs is a puzzle game where you must combine family of dogs (mother, father and their pup) to clear them from your board. You drop down bubbles of dogs from the top, and try to make combinations. The more combinations you get, there more points you get and you also get special items as well. I wasn't really a fan of this one. I played a similar Suika game earlier called Zooplop, which was very enjoyable, but this one felt a little too rough around the edges. With some refinement however, you could make the game worthy of the player's time. It's a really cheap game though, and if you want a simple game to play, you could probably enjoy this one. Still, I wouldn't personally recommend this one.

I believe it still needs some improvements to feel like a decent game. This review is both a gem review and feedback for the developer. I'll start with UI first. First off, there is no main menu. When you start the game it abruptly opens on the game screen. The Settings and Info icons can be found in the upper left corner. While in Settings I found that there is no way to control the audio levels. It only gives you the option to toggle sfx and music on or off. There are also no accessibility options. Given that the game uses colors and cramped up images inside the bubbles (or circles), accessibility would be a good thing to have. The Info icon takes you to the instructions on how to play the game and how to acquire bonuses. The instructions feel overwhelming when in essence they aren't and it should be a fairly simple intuitive methodology. It may be the way the instructions were written, but…

4/10 fairly unusual matching game where you need to memorize what different breeds of dogs look like and get 3(?) of them together at a time to score points. But it really needs a tutorial - several times it seems like I should have gotten points but didn't. Maybe with enough practice this would be fun, but as it stands it feels irritatingly difficult / arbitrary, without much reward when you do get it right. Willing to give it another go if an update with a proper tutorial is posted. Graphics and audio are pretty bland, but at least it properly supports touch. I don't think the dog theme adds anything to this game, it's just extra confusion and ugly looking.
