One of the best City-builder from Impressions games, if not the best. It has an easy to learn mechanics, but absurdly hard to master level of challenge. It can't be played like a filling block builders that rewards you for just placing correct buildings into the optimal grid. You have to learn to build, scrap, adapt, and remold the existed foundation to the next level while balancing your account, labor pool, gods favor, blocking landscape, water, security, and barbarians at the same time. It was addictive then and it still addictive now, with Augustus mod, of course!1 found this helpful

Great classic game! There is also more fine tuned remake in the web, still this release is good. Recommending it.
