Players acknowledge Clan of Champions as a budget title with decent value for its extremely low current price, praising the satisfying combat mechanics where you can disarm enemies and destroy their armor, along with the variety of combat styles and progression systems. However, the game suffers from repetitive mission design with similar enemy types, an identity crisis between hack-and-slash and RPG elements, and a general sense of being dated and mediocre even accounting for its bargain-basement cost. Most agree it's worth picking up on deep sale but wouldn't recommend paying anywhere near i
Clan of Champions, developed by ACQUIRE Corp. and published by NIS America, Inc., is a medieval-themed action arena game that sought to blend fast-paced melee combat with light RPG elements and online multiplayer skirmishes. Released in 2012, it aimed to capture the thrill of fantasy gladiatorial battles through short, mission-based encounters where players could create a personalized warrior and engage in combat either solo or alongside others. The premise is simple: enter an arena, defeat enemies, collect loot, and gradually upgrade your equipment and abilities. Yet beneath that straightforward setup lies a game that struggles to find its identity, wavering between being a hack-and-slash brawler and a role-playing experience, never fully excelling in either direction. At its core, Clan of Champions revolves around the combat system, which attempts to offer more depth than the typical button-mashing formula. Players can choose between three races—human, elf, or orc—each with distinct physical attributes and starting advantages. its a decent game especially for its extremely low price (im aware this game was 40 dollars when it released which is insane) The gameplay loop is basically fighting enemies, getting gear from each mission and building your characters skills and gear up until the highest difficulty there are 21 missions in the game and most of them are very similar, it almost always has you fighitng humanoid enemies the combat consists of 3 styles (Sword and shield, dual wield and hand combat) each style has its own moves and skills. aim of combat is to knock off enemies armor and weapons allowing them to be killed. its pretty satisfying to break helmets or knock the weapons out of the enemies hand out of gameplay you can manage your characters equpped skills and spells, and buy, sell, manage and enhance gear. i havent seen many recent reviews of this game so ill say if you want a little medieval arena brawler with some light RPG elements. a loot grind and passable combat, at the current price you cant really complain and its a good way to kill an hour or two.1 found this helpful
