About Classic Marathon Infinity

Marathon Infinity takes the closed universe of the Marathon series and blows it wide open. The solo/co-op campaign, “Blood Tides of Lh’owon,” is a 20-level scenario sporting new textures, weapons, and enemies. More than that, the scenario sheds a surprising new light on the story’s characters and the meaning of events. Having defeated the Pfhor and reawakened the ancient remnants of the S’pht, the player now faces a world where friends become enemies and all is not what it seems…

This classic 1996 Bungie™ FPS is now maintained by the fan community. Experience authentic game play using the original data files, with optional widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering/perspective, positional audio, and 60+ fps interpolation, just in case the original is too authentic.

Marathon Infinity is powered by the Aleph One engine, which is available under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 3.

Marathon Infinity is the hardest game in the series, and the most cryptic in terms of its story. It's also my favorite in the series. The story is still excellent, but this is Marathon at its most cryptic, disjointed, and postmodern when it comes to its presentation. Some things you'll have to pay very close attention to in order to understand what's going on, other things are really metaphorical and need to be interpreted based on what you know about the events, characters, and world in the previous two games. I personally love weird, complex stories like this, especially when there's enough depth to make putting all the pieces together feel meaningful, and Infinity absolutely fits that description. There's a ton of depth, detail, and meaning to be found in Marathon Infinity's story, even if it might just look like madness on the surface. I'm not going to get into any of the details of the story, but if you ever get lost, I can highly recommend MandaloreGaming's videos on Marathon since he does an excellent job at explaining the story in broad strokes. As for the gameplay, it's basically more Marathon 2, but with some new things added. You get a new weapon, which is a fleche…

One of the most impenetrable games ever created. The combat is difficult, the maps are mazelike and disorienting and the story is told to you through insane ramblings and disjointed timelines. It rules

Probably worth it just to get the Apotheosis X mod on Steam Workshop.
