The first two games were great and were really grounded in being relatable in today's world. But this third installment was far different and I had to refund it. I think the premise is great, a change from the old cast, location and new barista but the execution was just half baked imo. One thing that I do not like especially it being the main purpose of this games is the cast, it felt like self inserts and that their problems and ideologies are just shoved towards your face like you as a player have to accept. Ya sure theyre diverse with supernatural japanese folklore but what made the first two so great imo was that they had read life problems to make the player feel "at home" while still adding elements of fantasy which acts as a metaphor.1 found this helpful
So I've finished the game twice now, one blind playthrough and one 100% run. I can say with confidence that this game is special. The old characters are not forgotten, the new characters are just as fantastic, the stories are as always so well written... I cried multiple times and for the best reasons <3 I would heavily recommend this game to anyone who loves the Coffee Talk series... because now that i've finished it, I'm sad it's over but I'll always be looking forward to the next one <3 May the stories never end!1 found this helpful
It is a very chill game, and although the game may seem simple, there are quite a few story lines. The characters are also complex, and I like how the game doesn't shy away from topics such as mental health and societal issues such as the patriarchy. The game talk a lot about differentiating from the norm and forging your own path, and though on the outside it seems like "a simple game", it really does have some deep messages. The game itself is also fun. I enjoy trying to figure out what drinks to make, I love the world building, and I also like meeting the characters.
I enjoyed how the game was so cozy. it has nice stories with all of the different characters and a nice atmosphere when making the drinks. I would definitely recommend this game to friends because of the relationship building and the stories that come from it,
I've played all the Coffee Talk games and I've loved every single one of them, but I think this might be my favorite so far. Like the other two games before, it's a relaxing visual novel with a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Sitting behind the counter, making drinks and listening to people's stories. What makes this game stand out even more is how relevant and thoughtful its themes are. It tackles topics like mental health, LGBTQ+ identities, feminism, and the challenges people face in today's world with a lot of empathy. None of it feels forced - it simply tells human stories in a way that feels genuine and respectful.
Coffee Talk doesn't miss.
