Command Deck

I live for Indie games like these. I've been playing a large number of roguelite deckbuilders (seriously, I think I'm obsessed), and I realized there are a few elements that make up for a good game in this genre: - complexity and synergies - user friendliness - level of polish (including aesthetics and presentation. Things like audio clues, feedback during combat, animations, etc.) This game has all of the above, even though not in equal parts: I would say it is far from the complexity of Slay The Spire and thousands of miles away from the one of Balatro, but still complex enough to let you try different strategies and to let you feel like it's your fault you fail a run. With that said, the level of polish is high up there, together with a surprising amount of attention to detail in animations, visuals in general and audio. In most roguelite deckuilders you throw a basic attack and it never feels really good until you manage to trigger a chain of events that you strategically planned while building your deck. This game is quite a bit of fun. It starts simple but grows in complexity as the game progresses. Graphically, its very good, especially the ship-damage decals and destruction animations. They are excellent, so much so that they seem to be ... underused. Basically, I think the dev could do so much more with gameplay that impacts battle damage. Never-the-less, I have found it addictive and satisfying; a good purchase.

This game is a pleasant surprise. I bought it with no real expectations, and found a game with quite a lot of depth. It is fun and I replay it from time to time. This is worth the price in the current (early access) state. With a bit more love from the the developer this can become a real gem.

I just played my first hour, but holy macarony, this is one superb deck builder! If you in any way like "arcady" space ship combat and deck builders, you will enjoy this. There is no tutorial, but it took me maybe 5 minutes to understand pretty much the flow of things, both in combat and on the rogue-like node map. As with many deck builders there are situations where you have to make a decision about something, and can't see your deck to check what you have and stuff liek that, but that's just a minor nitpick. Give this a try!

Okay, this game was sitting on my Wishlist for a while before I decided to take a chance on it, and I’m glad I did. I wish it was just a tad cheaper for what we get, but the game is still fun and in early development. A few nit picks here and there but otherwise a pretty easy going turn based card game. At the time of writing this game is in EA. Will update if there are changes. The Good (+) Game is as presented in the trailer. (+) Easy to pick up, difficult to master. (+) High risk, high reward and casual fun – I like all the combination one can do. (+) Weirdly satisfying when things go right. The Meh (/) Some captains just feel better than the rest. Didn’t see much point in trying some of them. The Bad (-) Need more chances to heal. Heal cards exhaust easily for what you get. Either offer more repair points, or make the cards cycle back into the deck. Overall, good game and fit for some casual sci-fi fun.

Simple, addicting, and fun.
