I liked this one a lot! It even encouraged me to buy the full version. I recommend checking this one out.

The game itself is okay: I like the art, some of the horror works (30 unsettling/70 awkward), and the story despite being mostly empty was fun. (don't expect actual hide and seek, you're very clearly told "X is in the bedroom" and taken directly to said bedroom. The hidden lines are nice though, like [spoiler]finding a dead mouse after looking in the cupboard three times, the text is different every time and I always liked this method[/spoiler]) It would be even better without the constant "This is a demo! Please wishlist/buy the full game on October 7th 2021!", especially because it's really not necessary - this demo is short but mostly self-contained, I'm perfectly satisfied with what I got!! I'm deeply fed up with the achievements though (not that it matters, but one is completely nonsensical - "play through the demo 5 times" but it's only a specific combination of choices 5 times? Why.) They're just broken enough that you can, with a bit of effort, fix them. Annoying effort. And there's at least one bug that's just a misspelled label in the code like... maybe achievements are harder (doubt it, everyone else manages just fine) but this so easy to fix. Cooking Companions is a badly written E-book trying to ape the success of Doki Doki Literature club by ripping off many writing elements, and also trying to be a dating sim where you date vegetables or something... the book is, frankly, garbage, and this is just an advertisement for that book, published in the wrong place, on purpose. But it gets worse. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Cooking Companions, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Cooking Companions: Appetizer Edition" too.
