Daikatana

I knew the game was bad when it came out, but it is an atrocity today. The game is absolutly ugly and janky and the story makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense, even if you buy into the premise, there is no internal logic in it. My rating 1/10, don't buy this one and for my mental health I will permanently remove it from my steam account.

The 1.3 community patch makes this game about as playable as it should have been originally. Yes, its a difficult game. The splash damage can be frustrating at times but all in all, it's a good romp.

I just cant get over how lame the enemies are in the opening levels. Frogs and Mosquitoes/dragonflies. You trip an alert at the base and they release the bees! Had to giggle at that.

I played with the 1.3 patch. This game has attitude in spades. I had a very good time with this game, barring a few issues. In some levels, it is easy to get turned around or to "miss" what you are supposed to do. My companions did get stuck a few times, and there was one section that they just flat out refused to get on an elevator. I have read that on higher difficulties that is not issue, something about certain textures not rendering. On PC you can just force yourself to the next level with the console, but it was still an issue. Despite those issues, i still had a lot of fun. I found the weapons to be varied and fun to use, some even have alternate fires so be sure to experiment. The Daikatana can level up, which i somehow completely missed until the last level. Being able to enhance skills is a nice touch for an FPS, with pickups to temporarily max them out in the levels. The plot is...fine. It's nothing crazy but i found it easy to follow and even had 1-2 twists that surprised me. It's very much a product of it's time, but i had a good experience for the most part with this game.

How did this happen? Just HOW?

Solid FPS that reminds me a lot of Half Life and Dark Forces gameplay. If you are a fan of fast paced combat and tons of enemies to shoot along with a pretty interesting story then try to stick past the first couple levels as they can be pretty rough at first. The game gets a lot better the further you get into it and will surely make you either love or hate this game.
