Danmaku Unlimited 3

The quintessential modern bullet hell game. Blends the traditional design philosophies of classic Cave STGs and doujin danmaku with the wisdom and convenience of modern gaming. A gold standard for native home console/PC shmup releases to build upon. Great for beginners to initiate into a genre about dense bullet pattern recognition, reaction, and routing, with plenty of leeway and progressive difficulty options for new and novice players (like me) to want to come back for more, and enough depth for diehards to sink into within reason. Sometimes it's worth booting up on the easier side just to relax to the visuals while finding a flow. And the music is so good I listen to it casually. Two modes and a total of 6 difficulties to sharpen your shmuping teeth on. A bit sparse compared to some ported arcade content, but an absolute steal for the price and so much fun. Has tate settings and works well with controllers if you're using Steam as a frontend, otherwise you may need something like JoyToKey if you plan on playing outside of the Steam Client on something other than a keyboard. But it does feel well balanced and at home on an arcade stick.

Why are the bosses so damn tanky? I swear some take longer than a whole stage lol.

Great game overall, stages encourage you to work out good routes in order to maximize chaining and score. The bosses are interesting and engaging aside from a couple odd patterns, and the difficulty ramps nicely. Can't say enough good things about the music, but if you're not into djent/metal guitars this will do little to change your mind.

Very good danmaku with some features that made it different from the huge pool of games of the genre, like the chance to see the shape of your ship when you are into mist/lights/explosions etc.
