Demon Loop

I love boardgames by this designer, but this is as exciting as watching paint dry. You just go back and forth on the track, triggering buildings and avoiding monsters, until you have enough resources to trigger the cards that you have planed as the solution to 'the puzzle' presented by the level. There's just way too much waiting and rote manipulation for the number of meaningful decisions you get to make. I played right up to the refund time limit, hoping for something to click, but it never did. The art is a bit cringe too, voices and writing are not great either, nothing kept me engaged.

"Demon Loop" was far from what I expected. It is not the deckbuilding-powered boardgame with high replayability, but a descent puzzle game with intelligently-made scenarios to solve. The twist with the board definitely lets "Demon Loop" stand out. You have to wallk around the board, using buildings, getting powered up, and - unfortunately - run intro dead ends that make winning the scenario impossible. The mechanics within the game are very complex, with influence, honor, codex-learning, knowledge-spending, dice-placing taking a lot to think about. It all depends on what cards you choose and use to beat enemies that easily overpower you (think of a dagger or bow doing 1-3 damage points maximum, but the enemy needing a six to be rolled - impossible). In between the scenarios you upgrade your base, giving you important power-ups. To round it up, the scenarios are interconnected with a visual-novel-style story that - well - might not be the most thrilling experience, but at least binds the puzzles together. wasn't fun enough when I bought it, kept waiting for dev to polish I came back to see how it looks now - disappointed, this game looks abandoned

Very cool game. The game mechanics are fun to play. I can recommend it for a cozy and stress-free gaming evening

Not a big fan of having to replay the same level over and over just to get 1 or 2 more crystals. Especially when it comes entirely down to luck how many times I have to roll 3d3 before I can get a 6, etc.
