Doll's Liminal

So Doll's Liminal is a body snatching horror game. where the dolls you possese have higher defenses among other stuff? I am guessing here, as I went in totally blind, and still am puzzling the pieces together... from what I take away from this game. You get "Souls" which is basically your health, and it grows as you possess stronger dolls, you will be greeted by a something not unlike a old school doom boss. the dolls each have different attacks, and will be only on attack I assume after the stability of the level is lowered, or you get too close, or stare at an Daruma or the wall/socket too long. This game is the unique concept I want more of. though. I am kinda sad that it's less of an body snatching and gaining that doll's abilities type of gameplay... you just get the same weapons and gear you had before possessing the doll.... which on one part I totally feel is a missed chance of making a unique unusual body snatcher game. where you could challenge the final boss with even the lowest of doll bodies. making a challenge of it. but that's my idea and opinion. I recommend it any way. good horror game.. but might not be everyone's type of tea.

It's unique, it's kinda confusing, but It's fun. I wish I knew how to avoid the doll's attacks more. Sometimes it seems unavoidable and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to avoid them at certain times or not. What I've played and proceeded with IS fun though. I love the style , music and aesthetic of everything. It's neat you go from doll to doll, but I do wish the dolls had their own unique attacks and abilities to them.

One of the strangest games you'll ever see, but really fun. It takes a decent amount of patience to really get the hang of all the mechanics. You don't want to rush through this otherwise you'll never know what you're doing. Take your time and the game heavily rewards you with very satisfying replay value. Make sure to read all the notes on the walls and you can switch the game to English only when you spawn in the game. Highly Recommend

Just completed my first run, and I gotta say I am confused but delightfully so. The game is not all that complicated once you get down to brass tax, its just collecting stuff, learning layouts, and having good resource management skills, but I really dig the look of the game. Its delightfully creepy in just the right way. If you are looking for a more obscure rougelike to add to your collection, I recommend this one.

[i]Doll’s Liminal[/i] is an interesting little first-person horror rogue-like, with the goal being to descend to the bottom level of the titular Doll’s Liminal, a dimension of liminal hallways populated exclusively by living dolls. There’s a variety of dolls that lurk within the depths of the Doll’s Liminal, some are empty shells, others are possessed by souls and a very much hostile to your presence. The possessed dolls can only move when you’re staring in their direction, but can quite easily blindside you, rapidly draining the “stability” which essentially serves as your health points. While this will not kill you, it will catapult you deeper into the depths of the Doll’s Liminal, which can pretty easily wreck a run if you’re unprepared. As you descend deeper within the Doll’s Liminal you’ll build up resources in the form of weapons, items and upgrades to both your character and weaponry. In addition you can acquire souls, which increases the attack of your weapons (barring your crappy starter pistol). However, you have a set limit to the amount of souls you can carry at any given time, with this limit either increased by items you find or by possessing dolls. The first …

Just a slop game with good art. Very poorly designed mechanics. 95% of the time you're doing 1 point of damage to a doll on the second darumo, wasting all your bullets on something that has like 30 health, and then not being able to upgrade by posessing one. Gamedevs who don't understand how to properly balance their games or even create a legitimate gameplay loop have no business making videogames, no matter how pretty their artwork is. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ morons. There should be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gun on every floor at the very least because even searching all the cabinets leads to items that are functionally useless in nearly every playthrough. Resulting in an unfun RNG based ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run nearly every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. Also, the dolls always one-shot you even after swapping into quote unquote "stronger dolls" and the dolls are able to hit you from the other side of walls in very narrow hallways, essentially taking what little skill-based autonomy there was out of the game entirely. Unless you just want to look at the cool art, it isn't really viable to appreciate this as an actual videogame with solid mechanics.
