Downroll

Downroll is a minimalist arcade game that takes a very simple movement concept and turns it into a test of timing, positioning, and quick reactions. Developed and published by DIG Games, it avoids complicated systems in favor of an immediately understandable objective. You control a ball and must continue traveling downward while platforms steadily move upward, creating constant pressure to find openings before the advancing environment pushes you into danger. It is a deliberately small-scale experience aimed more at players who enjoy chasing scores and improving their reflexes than those looking for a lengthy platforming adventure. The central mechanic works because it reverses the usual direction associated with platform games. Rather than climbing upward or progressing across traditional stages, the objective is to descend as efficiently as possible. The ball needs to be guided left and right so that it can slip through openings between platforms. Waiting too long can be fatal because the rising structures gradually force the player toward the top of the screen. DIG Games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Guide a ball between 10 sets of platforms at a time. Then repeat, forever. Due to there being 3 difficulties, the game never speeds up so nothing changes and you can quite literally do it forever. Hard poses little problem, so I can't even imagine how slow and boring Easy/Medium are. This is hardly worth $1, let alone $4.
