Eye of Nollyn

A decent detective game made using RPG Maker. It has 6 chapters(excluding the prologue & epilogue), and the average playtime sits at around 3 hours. You can get two different endings, depending on which answer you choose in the epilogue. The whole "Bribing NPCs for clues" adds a some fun to the game, and solving free-answer questions in a detective game was nice. The puzzles were just simple and easy enough. Very beginner-friendly and crafted with a lot of care. If you find yourself struggling with them, try not to think too hard. It's worked for me so far. The art and music are also not the best you can see in indie games, but considering that the game was largely made by one person, the pictures and music do serve their purpose. Presented in their own unique style, they fit perfectly well into the game's atmosphere.

Playing this game after originally playing Man of Nollyn it was a fun experience to see how certain mechanics changed over time like the intimidation/bribery theme and how characters interact with each other. I think it's fun to see certain interactions with bribery even though they might not always help you solve a case directly. With 3-4 hours of playtime it's a great game you can experience in one go while not forgetting any of the connections to characters you might miss otherwise. You can tell the overall scenario and puzzles were crafted with great care while also being considerate to not make things out to be too cryptic for the player to end up getting lost and confused over it.

It's pretty alright, although I'm not sure I'd be saying the same if I got it full price, considering the length [strike]and some small typos etc. present at the time of writing this.[/strike] Has a mechanic of bribing people for clues which is basically getting hints for the cases, although you can solve them without bribery. Story is nothing exceptional but gets the job done. Pretty beginner friendly so might be a good lite entry into the genre. EDIT: The issues I mentioned got fixed within the very same day. Always nice to see a dev that cares. I should also mention that the bartender bits, I've read, give further info on world details and whatnot, but this wasn't really clear at the time of playing. Considering bribery being a mechanic, I kept money for the entire game in case it mattered. This may have ended up with me missing out on some content.

Best plot twist in video game ever.

It was just kinda bland to be honest. Some of the answers requiring you to type in your guess was neat, but nothing else really grabbed me. The description and some other reviews talk about twists but to me they were more obvious than solving the cases.

Had no idea where did I find this game but I'm glad I did. Although the detective gameplay and story is a little bit underwhelming, I really like the artistic direction and atmosphere.
