I love video games. I dedicate every day of my life to them. To me, they are a sublime form of art and beauty: the highest level artistic expression has reached. But there comes a point in every cultural industry where repetition ceases to be an artistic strategy and becomes a pathological diagnosis of a deeper condition. It no longer signals continuity; it reveals exhaustion. Far Cry 6 must be read precisely in those terms: not as an isolated product with design flaws, but as a symptom of a broader transformation in the logic of contemporary video games. Since Far Cry 3, the series had built a recognizable identity around a simple yet powerful premise: "the fantasy of individual power within a hostile environment" Progression was not based on numerical abstractions, but on practical mastery-pattern recognition, precise execution, improvisation under pressure. The experience was grounded in a form of direct agency, where every action produced an intelligible consequence within the game world: "a sniper headshot was a sniper headshot!" Far Cry 6 breaks that foundational contract. Now, you may need four or more shots to kill a generic enemy in the head. I. T…

Pretty good overall, about what you probably expect. Nothing ground breaking, but a good example. Some of the designs could be more complete, but this is along the lines of Tomb Raider, Crysis, etc. Most of it is very well made. Not the best, but worth the time. 2 things I absolutely hate: Weak checkpoint with no option for classic checkpoints. If you die in a battle, you're respawned later in the day, sometimes half the enemies are gone, the game finishes half the job for you, and you never get the chance to have fun repeating the same battle from different angles. It's a terrible shame, as some of these battles are very well designed for multiple approaches. You can't restart old checkpoints, the progress just grinds on, killing the repeat playability of some nicely challenging battles. I always prefer classic checkpoints that let you replay and replan as many times as you like. There's no reason not to offer these as an option. Some people like the 'progressive' checkpoints, but it should always be an option, not the insisted rule. Second hate: Ubisoft Connect is required. Terrible. Otherwise, enjoyable. Better than many, not as good as some. Worth the Steam sale price, just…

Far Cry 6 This is ~40 hours of FPS-flavored potato chips. I would be hard-pressed to describe what's especially different about this dose of far cry. There's no "hunt random animals to upgrade your wallet"? Gear and weapons are handled a bit differently? But if you've played Far Cry before, this is just the Spanish-speaking island edition instead of the Himalayan edition or Oklahoma edition. Go depose a dictator, take control of various refineries/roadblocks/anti-aircraft stations/etc. Sniping with relevant equipment is very successful for most things you'd do (and is a lot of fun, though the AI is pretty stupid and manipulatable). Then the game makes you hold off an assault as you protect some position you're trying to hold and you need some different weapons - fortunately, you can live-swap your entire gearset! So as long as you've got an appropriately upgraded/tuned shotgun handy, you're all set. The story was good, gameplay was good. Ubisoft still is weird and intrusive, but that wasn't too bad here - just an alt-tab, redeem some gear for achievement points, and back to the action. I'm very disinterested in 100%-ing this, the moment the story ended I just un…
