Fixer's Tale

If you like visual novels or quests with branching narrative and puzzles you'll dig this game. Not the deepest plot but it was rather engaging.

Catchy game! Firstly I was a bit frustrated being constantly failing in the 1st lab but later I tried to look around and the game caught my attention till the very end. I've reached only one ending so far but I'll spend some more time to check other endings!

The game is a sci-fi dungeon crawler set in a malfunctioning subterranean laboratory. You play a technician tasked with fixing a malfunction of mysterious origin. Descend through multiple floors, solving puzzles and collecting crucial items to be used later. Expect plenty of sci-fi references and a healthy dose of humor – even in the face of your (potentially) hilarious demise. I definitely liked the old-school game atmosphere.

It's a nice quest with sci-fi vibe and a twisted plot. You need to solve puzzles, fix things and discover bits of the story. Sometimes challenging, getting to the good ending might take some time (or even another try, or two). Overall pleasant, chill, humorous, with lots of hidden ways to get to your goal.

This is a badly made Russian "text adventure", and I think that's generous as you don't have a free range text input, you're just clicking on text dialogue options. I guess the fine difference that makes this only slightly more than a banal visual novel is that you can return to previous sections of text and choose different options, which creates a synthetic impression of moving between rooms and so on. In terms of actual text adventures, this has less going on with it than Zork did, and on that basis alone, that's a huge failure. Zork came out in the 1980s, this came out in 2024, if you can't do better than developers were doing 40 years ago, it may not be appropriate to publish your failure through Steam Direct. And fail, this did. See below for the public reception, it's not good.
