Fossil Finder is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers, Phoenixxx Games. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into DailyIndieGame bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. This time they've ripped off/slapped together some kind of very basic retro clicker game where you click on a grid to uncover artifacts (not fossils... what a surprise they didn't even name this asset flip to correspond with the kind of game it is). Your pick only has a certain number of clicks before it runs out, and your goal is to collect as many things as possible before you realise this is pure garbage and uninstall it. Phoenixxx Games have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work. One example of Phoenixxx Games doing this is Cat From The Box, which is really the "[…8 found this helpful
i enjoyed this game for a bit, sadly there is no story line, and no real objective as far as i have experienced, if you are in the mood to click to uncover stuff then it could be a way to kill some time. Would i play it again? Yes. Do i think it is worth the 14.79€ price tag? No. i would say with the amount of content i wouldn't want to pay 5€ for this game, you can find free games similar to this as browser games or mobile games. So i feel like the price tag is totally wrong.6 found this helpful
A mixture of clicker and puzzle, our hero is a scientist filled with the ambition of searching for forgotten, ancient artifacts. But not everything is simple, in search of him, traps await him that can kill him. The game is a casual search for objects on a small checkered field, where artifacts, mines and coins are hidden, the latter serve to improve the characteristics of the pick, the scientist's luck or increase the hero's HP.2 found this helpful
Fossil Finder is an arcade game with RPG elements, where you excavate layers of dirt, sand, and rock in search of treasure while managing pickaxe durability, your character’s HP, and a bit of luck. It sounded promising, but I’m thoroughly disappointed to report that it just falls flat. The mechanics have so much potential. Digging through layers, uncovering treasure, and managing stamina should make for an engaging loop. But the game simply does not deliver. I had so many ideas and expectations for it, too. The deeper you dig, the better the treasure? No, all loot is the same. Breaking rocks rewards you with stat boosts? Also no, you gain no strength or experience that allows you to dig faster, in fewer clicks or whatever. No progress there at all. Putting pieces of fossils together to create decoration items? Not that, either. A collection system to track your finds or assemble fossils? Nope, it’s a collecting game without a collection mechanic, apparently. Instead, the gameplay boils down to an endless cycle of digging, earning money, upgrading your pickaxe, HP or luck stat, which realistically only buys you more time the next loop, allowing you to collect more money in one r…
Boring AF. There is no goal its just clicking and upgrading your pickaxe, luck and health. That is it.
Sadly an utterly uninspired game. It is more of a clicker or idle game than "mystery", "exploration" or anything along those lines. There is no strategy behind this, no deeper story or anything, you are mindlessly clicking, hoping for treasure, until the excavation inevitably ends and you can upgrade equipment before starting again. After less than half an hour I feel like I have already seen everything that this game has to offer. And even though I got this game on sale for less than an euro, I will refund it because it is just no the kind of game I see myself playing again.
