About Freja

Freja is a first-person psychological thriller about exploration, immersion and discovery.
A thrilling experience about confronting your inner demons.
Explore the remnants of an old high school as you help a woman with PTSD and selective amnesia, puzzle together her traumatic past.

Freja features the unique concept of integrating arcade games into the story. Instead of merely reading notes to remember what happened, players must instead uncover the truth through various oldschool minigames.

Exploration:

Puzzle together a fractured mind through exploration and object interactions.

Survival:

Survive the dangers lurking around the shadows by staying on your toes.

Arcade:

Play several minigames to learn about the past. A different approach to the horror genre.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this atmospheric horror game for its thoughtful storytelling, creative minigames, and willingness to explore serious personal trauma with nuance rather than cheap scares. The game starts slowly with simple chapter progressions, but gradually reveals a darker narrative that resonates emotionally, particularly around themes of identity and anxiety in high school. Many feel it's a beautifully crafted experience that handles its sensitive subject matter with genuine care and respect.

So I just finished this game after having it on my wishlist since release. I now wish so bad I had played it back then but I'm still glad I got the chance to experience this. At first I felt the game was progressing too fast, with chapters being completed for simple things like entering a room. The mini games were very creative and silly, but it wasn't until a certain point in the game where myself the community had a "OHHH...." moment that things started clicking together and that's where the game takes a darker turn. It ended up being quite the story, and I think the dev did a great job approaching everything about the game. If this is a personal experience project, I'm sorry anyone ever had to go through this. The game was beautifully made and I give all the props to the dev for this. Highly recommended for others to experience, it took about an hour to beat, puzzles are pretty simple, it's not insanely scary.

This was a beautifully crafted game that told a somber story. I enjoyed the storyline and the mini games that were placed throughout to help the story on. Definitely worth a play through.

Short and sweet horror game that focuses more on the unsettling atmosphere rather than cheap jumpscares. You face the character's traumas about being a lesbian in highschool which expresses itself through triggers, minigames and anomalies blocking your progress. Hit me personally too. Just like in real life, I succumbed to anxiety.
