[h1]Overview:[/h1] '[i]Gash[/i]' is a first person hack and slash game where the goal is to become the strongest swordsman in Japan. Supposedly taking place in the Sengoku period, the objective is to fight various enemies throughout different arenas to power-up, advance and ultimately beat the current strongest swordsman and claim the title for yourself. The idea sounds interesting enough and even the video on the store page makes the game seem like a pretty fun, fast paced hack and slash but don't be fooled. I absolutely love these kinds of games but there are a lot of underlying issues plaguing this one and I'll break down each aspect the best I can. [h1]Gameplay:[/h1] Now to start off, you only have the option to pick one class out of the three that appear to be in the game: the wandering swordsman also known as a "Ronin". The other two are "Ninja" and "Samurai" which I found weird since both ronins and samurais are well, samurais, but both these classes are locked and have a big fat "[i]Coming Soon[/i]" text hovered above them. And seeing how this game was released almost a year ago and still these classes have yet to be released, I'm not holding my breath for any updates. Yo…

I mean, it was alright. The mouse was very sensitive, the noises were quite loud, and worse, after every boss battle, they would return to their original state. Additionally, the movement speed was excessive. Using an ability and running away was the only strategy required; no other skills were needed. Standard swordplay was essentially ineffective. This was a pointless game with no backstory or purpose. Give [b]Gash[/b] a try if you like playing games that make you agitated. I kind of enjoyed it in the end.

Shotty controls, on par with that of a mobile game littered with ads. You get what you pay for and in this case that was free. When you step back and take it for what it is and continue to try again over and over, trying to hit that final stage for that boss battle, constantly coming up with new strats on how to hit that endgame. I'd say that's what games are all about 4/10 Would recommend

"Gash" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. There are a couple of what I think are bespoke assets here, and we can tell because those assets are really badly made and mismatch the rest of the assets in this dumpster fire. The backdrops look like they're all Synty Polygon Pack stuff, but yeah, the developer wanted you to think he created that stuff, and he put a price tag on it so he could get YOUR money for someone else's game assets. This is never okay. But what is this anyway? Well, it's nothing. It's a simple, pointless tech demo, a first person slasher that's assembled as badly as the assets.
