Very fun Tower Defense game, doubley so if you like Touhou. It's a bit buggy and the controls are a bit bad (i do NOT recommend controller) but very fun. I completed the main story and the 3 side missions all on Normal in about 9 hours of gameplay and only lost once on the final level. Halfway through i stopped caring about 3 stars on everything (3 stars required no lives lost, and no deaths alongside winning the level.) and just played for completion and some of the later levels even on normal were pretty tough with the strategy i was using with Cherry Blossoms, Flowers and Bounce Pads. Hard mode seems pretty difficult for any sweaty TD buffs that are wanting to take a crack at it, although be warned that you have to beat the entire story on Normal to unlock it (Easy mode unlocks a bit into normal mode which is also really odd.) I reccomend giving it a shot when it goes on sale, as i don't know if 20 dollars justifies the amount of content the game contains that feels samey. There aren't an extraordinary amount of gimmicks to levels themselves, moreso to the enemy types. Traps also have a balancing issue with a lot of them being...really bad or straight outclassed, same with the c…3 found this helpful
Pretty average tower defense game however it has the three fairies of light so im obligated to give it a 10/101 found this helpful
What if it's Dungeon Defenders or Orcs Must Die but Touhou? Well you get this game. Albeit the game heavily lenient towards balance rather than allowing you to do whatever you want, there is definitely inspired aspect from OMD. For example, Aya - she's the equivalent of Wind Belt from the game where you can push enemies off the platform, which are encouraged if given. The funny thing is that in OMD 'Ice Amulet' is mandatory to stall the orcs (meta on nightmare difficulty) and Cirno - who can freeze absolutely everything, her title truly live up to its name for this game. The game is... decent at best like others said, I wouldn't say fun but rather limiting. There's way too many one-time traps that I never find any use for them since the character's ability often time are enough. The upgrade system... felt unrewarding and limiting, the points to allocate them are expensive so it always felt like it's never enough. There's a character upgrade but... the points are shared between trap upgrades and character upgrades - which leads to the second point, limiting. Also another problem, the game does have flying enemies - the type of enemies that can go over your barricade or off the…
White tree trap goes brrrrrr
I really wouldn't. Maybe if you care about who these characters are, and/or what they have to say, that might be worth the price of admission. (I've certainly skipped a lot of scenes and dialogue, all in Japanese if that matters to you, so can't say they skimped there.) As For the Actual Game It's a tower defense/dual-stick shooter. - Actually, it's slightly worse, leading to the first issue: controller implementation. You actually use the right stick just to aim and RB/R1 to shoot. This matters because they put the spells on the d-pad, meaning to use them you have to stop moving. And this will get you killed. - Menu controls are similarly poorly implemented. Suffice it to say, by the end I was just using the mouse. - Most of the "towers" are incredibly unsatisfying, as they are slow to activate, take time to reset, have limited range and do little damage. - Placement and orientation of defenses are also seriously limited, with the enemy pathing set up for maximum inefficacy. - As a result, you rely heavily on the character and their abilities, which are also borderline disappointing, and which makes levels where you have to defend multiple goals problematic…
