11 years after release and the game is still buggy and many achievements are still broken... yup, I would say it was abandoned a long time ago. Broken achievements really bum me out man!

This is one of my favorite Steam games, but there are some things you should beware of, so please, customers and developers alike, please read until the end it is important. I will start with the positives, this is a remake of Giana Sisters DS with what appears to be HD 2D hand drawn sprites instead of the pixel art of the original and a different aspect ratio, (more on that later). There are some gameplay issues the original had that were really annoying that this version thankfully got rid of, like needing to blow air into the microphone on the DS to make the bubble gum bubble floating segments work or tilting the DS to rotate the soda stream, now it is much more bearable with simple button presses and analog stick movement controls. The controls feel VERY good and natural to play, it has great, albeit, sometimes very difficult level designs and boss fights. (Obviously despite the below listed flaws, I loved this game enough to have 100% completed it, so if that doesn't convince you that it is great and you should get it, I don't know what will!) TL;DR, not recommended, its a bad port, and it has pretty noticeable bugs that have gone unfixed for over a decade. If you absolutely want to play this, try to get the DS version instead. Longer version: First, the hitboxes are all wrong. Everything seems to be using oversized/misplaced square hitboxes regardless of the sprite shape itself. Meaning flames, spikes and enemies can kill you without touching you, and any precision platforming sections are ruined by your character bumping into invisible boundaries. Enemy hitboxes are so off, that sometimes you may successfully kill an enemy, yet die at the same time. Also some enemies can shoot fireballs even after dead, and the fireballs can go through solid floors. Second, the level select just doesn't work. Many times it will force you to repeat a previous level when trying to select the next one. Eg., I had to play Level 2-2 -> 2-2 -> 2-4. I never got to play 2-3 but it still got marked as completed. I will never be able to properly finish the game, because every time I tried to start level 9-2 (the last one), it just forced me to repeat 9-1 over and over again. I did get the achievement for completing island 9, but 9-2 still show…

Some reviews are complainning that this game is a remake of the DS game. What's the matter if it is? Yes, the name doesn't give a clue it is a remake, but whatever. The graphic, sound and controlability are well designed in this remake. This is a very easy game to play with no stress, excet when you reach the two last islands. The difficult turns from very easy to very hard. Small steps in the edge of surfaces, jumping not at max height, keeping Punk powerup are some skills that will be required in the last islands.

This is a good game. I remember playing the original as a child on my Commodore 64 and was so glad to see it as a remake for my modern system
