About Glorious Noon

*THIS GAME IS STILL IN EARLY ACCESS DESPITE WHAT STEAM SAYS*

Looking for a fun way to exercise those virtual reality sword-fighting skills? Or perhaps you prefer to practice magic as well? From battling sky-pirates to taking down demon-elephant behemoths, Glorious Noon fulfills all of those needs by taking the player on a bombastic journey where he/she acquires enchanted weapons and the tenacity to use them. Along the way, discover magical artifacts to help fend off the terrifyingly beautiful monsters that roam this land.

List of Awesomeness
  • Stunning art and mythical beasts? Check.
  • Thrilling combat? Check.
  • Magic and mystery? Check.
  • All in virtual reality? CHECK!

Some Lore: Long ago, a daring warrior, a clever wizard, and an adventurous enchanter entwined their souls in an attempt to achieve immortality. Like all attempts to be immortalized, there was a curse attached: the three were caught in an endless cycle of rebirth and death. Only one of the three could be alive at a time so as soon as one of them died, the other sprang back to life.

You play as the warrior: a melee-based fighter who only uses weapons such as swords, spears, and crossbows. Depending on the enchantment on his/her weapon, the warrior can charge at an enemy at a high speed, pulverize the ground, and summon swords back to their hand.

Trailer Music: The Fat Rat Infinite Power
Music used in game: The Fat Rat Xenogenesis and The Fat Rat Unity

"Glorious Noon" is a poorly made low poly VR tech demo. In this game you throw a sword around at various low poly things and pretend you're watching a slideshow because the optimisation is as bad as the visuals. This features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and it's clear the developers behind this didn't understand that. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in min…

I think the game is great for being a free demo. That being said the movement really bugs me. If they can give you free movement then I'll definitely give it another try.
