A special note from SMU Guildhall:

Goofballs is now free to play! The game was made by students at SMU Guildhall who are graduating in May, 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 outbreak. This is a difficult time for everyone. We decided to make Goofballs and our other recent releases free for two reasons: 1) With a challenging job market, we wanted to show off the students' hard work to as wide an audience as possible. 2) Everyone stuck at home could use some fun, free entertainment.

If you are one of the gamers who supported our students and purchased the game, we thank you. Proceeds go directly to the students to help offset some of the extra development costs of making and publishing the game.

chaotic student-made lovechild to play with friends. Great for a quick laugh, but fit only for about 15 minutes

Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
"Goofballs" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from SMU Guildhall in the USA. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is a very mediocre arcadey 3D top down(ish) football game where you bash a ball around to get it into the goal, only with a deliberately bad physics model. And no players, because …

Goofballs Positives: + Ok for about 5 minutes + Ok graphics + Its free Negatives: - Quirky controls (with keyboard) - No mouse support in the menu - Ridiculous achievements - No fun after a few minutes - Can get frustrating - Gets very repetitive and monotonus - Not enough variation - Annoying sounds and music - Bad AI - Extremely limited multiplayer My expectations to this game was not high to begin with, but it was actually worse than I thought. There is nothing here to keep this interesting for more than a few minutes. Absolutely not my cup of tea. Total Score: 2.5/10
